Just got this started[edit]

This could certainly be expanded into a fuller article in time. Cliffswallow-vaulting (talk) 18:24, 19 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

What happened to Northern Celestial Hemisphere ? -- 65.94.169.222 (talk) 05:32, 30 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've just created it by copying this article and switching "south(ern)" to "north(ern)". Now the job of expanding both into proper articles lies ahead. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 09:26, 30 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Constellations and stars[edit]

Can this be a place to list or link to the various bodies in the southern sky? Kortoso (talk) 20:11, 2 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Visibility from the Northern terrestrial hemisphere[edit]

I removed the section "Visibility from the Northern terrestrial hemisphere" because since southern and northern sky are divided by the celestial equator and not by the ecliptic, then the angled rotation of the Earth relative to the ecliptic does not change the visibility of the southern sky from the northern terrestrial hemisphere. It affects only the visibility of the sky above/below the ecliptic, but sky above the ecliptic ≠ northern sky. -- Basilicofresco (msg) 08:58, 25 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"Rotating"?[edit]

How so? Does the universe rotate about the Earth? Is that it? lol

'Observation' Section : Delete?[edit]

The article says: "The brightest stars are all larger than the Sun." This isn't true. Alpha Centauri A and B are solar-like stars. B is smaller and less massive than the Sun. The whole section 'Observation' seems irrelevant. Arianewiki1 (talk) 05:01, 13 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Great Dog?[edit]

"Great Dog"? Are you seriously suggesting abandoning the Latin names? This only makes it harder for anybody to refer to reference works, especially if they're from a non-English speaking country happening to use Wikipedia. Please, stop. -- Sir Huddleston Fuddleston (talk) 17:46, 14 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Done. Arianewiki1 (talk) 01:15, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Faulty images[edit]

Unfortunately the gif is faulty. Showing the celestial equator too far north, about position of tropic. can anybody correct that? Kipala (talk) 21:12, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you're takling about this animation, where the Earth is visible with the tropic at the center below the celestial equator, instead of the equator.
Then, I think this graphic has a mistake too, the right ascension goes in the wrong way, 0h is at the bottom, then it should ascend counter-clockwise. --androl (talk) 13:21, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
