Confusion beware[edit]

The club Southill Park (sometimes reported as South Hill or South-hill Park in match reports) must not be confused with Southall F.C., the first of which name was founded in 1871 (see its Wikipedia article). One perpetrator of the confusion was the Guinness Book of the F.A. Cup Finals (a book I no longer have access to since a library closure a few years ago} who, in its list of football clubs participating in the FA Cup and their matches, stated Southall F.C. started as South Hill Park and included the latter's matches of the 1870s in the table. C.W. Alcock's Football Annual of 1879, in its list of football clubs in London area, names it Southill Park, recording it was founded in 1876. In reports of the FA Cup ties against Cambridge University and Old Harrovians, the club, whose players then included Clopton (C.A.) Lloyd-Jones, later of Clapham Rovers, is consistently spelt Southill Park. Some consensus on the name for the purposes of this article would be welcome.Cloptonson (talk) 19:30, 19 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

In absence of any comment I have standardised the name to Southill Park throughout.Cloptonson (talk) 19:00, 19 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
