Initial comments[edit]

This page could use more work, it seems like a viable alternative to Bob Green's diet website.--Memo 05:33, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm not sure why this keeps getting marked as an advertisement. This is a legimate, award-winning site. I had the help of the user Merope in creating this....tried to give good information about what the site and company do, not including any marketing-speak. How can I improve it? Jknepfle 01:11, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I removed the proposed deletion tag. This article was approved by admin Merope on 9/25 as useful content about the nature of the SparkPeople company and sparkpeople.com free weight loss site. Jknepfle 14:22, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My only comments would be to add some possible criticism of the site / alternative sites(if any) that may counter any claims of advertisement in this article. It sounds a bit puffy, and I'm examining what can be done to take the tone a little more neutral. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.96.139.46 (talk) 06:00, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • The article gives information concerning a private company, SparkPeople, Inc., and establishes notability per WP:WEB. What else would you like me to do?Jknepfle 16:07, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Why hasn't this article been deleted? It's just an ad. OrangeMarlin Talk• Contributions 17:41, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's an article about a notable company that is not (in my opinion) overpromotional in it's tone. If you feel that any bits of it are in violation of WP:NPOV, then feel free to edit them. Darksun 19:15, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely an advertisement.OrangeMarlin Talk• Contributions 19:42, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Then, as mentioned above, rewrite the parts you feel are advertising. The company is notable. Smashville 20:52, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:SparkpeopleLogo.jpg[edit]

Image:SparkpeopleLogo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

SparkPeople[edit]

Since SparkPeople is a privately-held company, it would be interesting to know who the founders were and if they are still involved in its operation. Also, what was the motivation for the site and how is it funded? SparkPeople is often recommended by employee assistance programs, weight coaches and others interested in helping people lose weight or just eat and live healthier. It woud be good to know if this is a front to collect information about people for the sales and marketing of related products or is it set up by one or more health insurance companies? I think that understanding the origin and owners is pretty standard, Can anybody assist? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.199.2.12 (talk) 20:17, 24 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed Changes[edit]

The link to sparkrecipes.com goes to https://www.sparkrecipes.com . It should either go to https://recipes.sparkpeople.com (preferred) or http://www.sparkrecipes.com, which redirects to https://recipes.sparkpeople.com Thanks! Jknepfle (talk) 19:01, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Only one link per website is appropriate and sparkpeople.com is already linked, so I have simply removed the sparkrecipes.com instead of adding recipes.sparkpeople.com Deli nk (talk) 19:40, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
fair enough. Are you able to remove the conflict of interest header? I only removed some incorrect info. Jknepfle (talk) 21:52, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, on second thought, I don't think that header was necessary so I have removed it. Deli nk (talk) 00:19, 18 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, and thanks for the help. Jknepfle (talk) 19:14, 18 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
