anyone know the significance of the cover to this album?

It's in Baudot code, an obscure form of binary. Basically, when the blocks on the album are converted to binary, then this converted into hexadecimal and then this converted into text, the bits spell out 'SPED OF SOUND' (Sic). Alex Ostrovsky

I find it highly unlikely that anyone would have a scholarship named after them simply for buying the billionth song from iTunes. Plus, Google doesn't find a single relavent hit for "Alex Ostrovsky" Coldplay, "Alex Ostrovsky" iTunes or "Alex Ostrovsky" Speed of Sound. For recent news items, make sure you check the news tab/search of your favorite search engine, because this piece is at the top of the results when doing such a search.

Other than the milestone and who downloaded the song, the rest of the details (prizes, scholarship) are essentially spam, and non-notable. Because the band itself has nothing to do with whether a scholarship or prizes were rewarded; it just so happened that the individual bought that song. --Madchester 22:14, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

what does this song actually mean?

everytime i listen to the lyrics i dont have any idea what the song is trying to convey..

Hello. I just watched a wonderful video on YouTube [1] which had this song as its soundtrack, and the meaning of the lyrics dawned on me. This song is about how people try to explain the wonders of nature (such as birds flying at the speed of sound, not that it's true but it's just a romanticised exaggeration) by attributing their existence to creation or intelligent design... And this song is saying that everything is explained by evolution ("Birds came flying from the underground"... "When you see it then you'll understand").

I might be wrong, but if this is really the meaning of the song, then I LOVE it.

Like Clocks?

I don't think it sounds that much like Clocks? It is similar but it's just the same piano being played by the same person. I'm going to take that bit out. If anyone wants to put it back in that's fine but please get a reference. Cls14 17:02, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
