Merging Spira (Spiro) into Spira (family name) looks like a sensible idea to me Pontificake 00:25, 22 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spira = Spiral = coiled, "helmet straps" and "coiled SNAKE" have no basis in fact that I'm aware of

  • No Way the origin of the name is from the town Schpire in Germany, so if anything it should be merged to that, but no, since Spiro is a common enough way to spell the name. In the Hebrew wikipedia it should be easier merging this and other versions of the spiro family name, but not here. Chavatshimshon 06:44, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merge[edit]

I've merged Spira (Spiro) and Shapiro to Spira (family name), and cleaned up the various redirects and disambigs pointing here. Quarl (talk) 2007-02-26 01:29Z

Alternative etymologies[edit]

I've put the two alternative etymologies in their own section for now. They need to be sourced else should eventually be removed. Quarl (talk) 2007-02-26 01:30Z

Shapiro[edit]

Shapiro is the most used name here (and the most original too?), shouldn't it be changed the title of this name from Spira to Shapiro? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dso700 (talkcontribs) 08:08, 3 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I've deleted all the Shapiro entries since we now have a separate page for them. Soap 18:53, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
