James Manby Gully[edit]

James Manby Gully was a member and vice-president of the Spiritualist Association of Great Britain.

"Dr. James Manby Gully (1808-83), was a prominent member of the British National Association of Spiritualists who assisted William Crookes in his investigations of Florence Cook. Two years after this photo was taken, Gully found himself under investigation for the poisoning of one of his patients, who was also his lover's husband. Crookes was unlikely to have had this knowledge at the time of his investigations of Florence Cook, at which time Gully was still a member of good standing in medical society."
