2004 tiger deaths due to avian flu[edit]

This NYT story by By Donald G. McNeil Jr. and Denise Grady, published January 2, 2012, states (on page 2), "In 2004, however, 102 of the 400 tigers at the Sri Racha Tiger Zoo in Thailand died of bird flu after eating infected chickens, which suggested to some experts that the virus can move from the gut in mammals, or at least in felines." -- ToE 19:18, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
