John Gray's role[edit]

According to this article, John Gray, along with "Raffalovitch as benefactor", planned to build the church while he was serving as curate at St Patricks. As far as I can see, this is not directly supported by the quoted citations.

According to a news story on the BBC, Gray and Raffalovitch conceived the idea of building the church while Gray was convalescing in Rome from a bout of pneumonia.^[1] The BBC story cites Jerusha Hull MacCormack's book as its source.^[2]
