Controversy[edit]

I ask an editor to correct this entry, please. I am not a "Microsoft developer" nor was I a "paid consultant" for any of the work that involved Standards Australia, in particular for the Ballot Review Meeting or other SA or ISO meetings. Standards Australia regard the ComputerWorld article as so badly informed that it put out a press release. Furthermore, this Wikipedia article provides no reference for the claim that Standards Australia had previously promised to send its employees: indeed it is quite false as the previously announced team had 1 Standards Australia staff member and one member of the public involved at a senior level in other standards efforts.

So the text 'In February, 2008, it was revealed the delegation that Standards Australia sent to the ISO included Microsoft developer and paid consultant Rick Jelliffe, despite having previously pledged to send its own employees.' should be replaced by 'In February, 2008, Standards Australia announced^[1] that the delegation it was sending to the ISO/IEC meeting included Rick Jelliffe who was associated with the pro-DIS29500 position and had consulted to Microsoft.'^[2]

Also, the text 'Some sectors of the IT industry described Standard Australia's decision to cast an "abstain" vote as "bizarre"' is incorrect. It should be replaced by 'An Australian journalist described Standard Australia's decision to cast an "abstain" vote as "bizarre".' Rick Jelliffe (talk) 18:35, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rick. I made some of those changes. I left 'pro-DIS29500' as 'pro-OOXML' for readibility. Deleted line about Standards Australia pledge to send employees. --Lester 12:46, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
