Location in real Connecticut[edit]

There is a town that's a few miles north of Southington, is around 8700 people, and has a small downtown Burlington. I live there. It takes me about 30 minutes to get to Hartford, and about 35-40 minutes to get to New Haven. It's actually due north of both Waterbury and New Haven, although most people go to the movies in Plainville or Simsbury instead of Waterbury. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.234.120.79 (talkcontribs) 14:20, 13 November 2006

In the last episode of season 1, the Second Troubadour says "I run a Kinko's in Groton," which is presumably not far away. —Tamfang 07:08, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The city of Woodbury doesn't seem to be too far away, in the episode "The Ins and Outs of Inns" it was mentioned that a woman from Stars Hollow drove to this place to purchase vegetables! --Exodianecross (talk) 02:27, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Stars Hollow[edit]

I wish this was a real town, I would move there. I have told my husband that I want to move to Stars Hollow Connecticut several times. One like it would be great too. Gilmore Girls is the Best!!65.82.253.85 19:34, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Delete or revamp[edit]

Honestly, this is an excellent example of a bad Wikipedia article. I am a fan of the show, but this rambling, inconsistent, and badly formed article should either be redone or deleted altogether. Yangsta 21:50, 1 May 2007 (UTC) <--- THIS PERSON IS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. THE ARTICLE IS TERRIBLE. SORT IT OUT! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.178.209.70 (talkcontribs) 23:30, 10 October 2007[reply]

Also, what's with the Clueless reference to Amy Sherman-Palladino? Clueless was Amy Heckerling! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.103.17.94 (talk) 02:22, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Headline text[edit]

It could just be Durham, CT. Sandwiched near Middlefield, Wallingford, and Guilford, Durham is about 30 minutes from both Hartford and New Haven, and with a population of only 6600 it fits with the Stars Hollow small town feel. Also, Durham was incorporated in 1708 and is run by town meeting with two select-people. It has a much more Stars Hollow-esqe feel than Meriden or Wallingford and is much smaller. It's also closer to the central part of the state and is easily accessible to Hartford and New Haven as mentioned. In addition to being close to Haddam which the show references, Durham and Middlefield are also close to the real-life Wadsworth state park and the restored Wadsworth Mansion, where Paris and Rory discussed having the Chilton prom their senior year (2003). Durham is a definite candidate as a Stars Hollow-esque town. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.165.246.134 (talkcontribs) 00:54, 16 May 2007

Reference to Backlot Set?[edit]

The set that this article refers to wasn't built for "Gilmore Girls"--it's been a part of the Warner Bros. backlot for decades, at least as far back as Bonnie and Clyde (they rob a bank off the town square). When I visited it as part of the studio tour in 2001 I was told it was called Starry Hollow, though that may be mistaken memory or a guide misspeaking; I assumed the name to be an inside joke. As one of the most famous backlot sets in history, it deserves its own article. It is similar to the Courthouse Square set over at Universal--initially Mockingbird Square for its role in To Kill a Mockingbird, then Courthouse after its star turn in Back to the Future. Most recently it is the town set for "The Ghost Whisperer." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.2.50.7 (talk) 01:28, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

business viability[edit]

there is an essay in the pop smart (or is it smart pop?) book coffee at lukes, a series of essays about gilmore girls which discusses how successful the various enterprises in stars hollow would be in the real world. i have read this essay on line, when it was available for a short time on the publishers website but do not have access to a copy now. however i feel that some inclusion of the published results/opinions on the stars hollows businesses could enrich this article, and if anyone agrees/is willing to do it this would be good. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.30.38.148 (talk) 22:49, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Should Include a Spoiler Alert[edit]

I think the article is fine: possibly it requires some edits, but the topic is relevant to those with an interest in contemporary broadcast entertainment. It is of additional relevance and interest that Stars Hollow is an amalgam of Connecticut towns -- or an idealized version of a Northeastern U.S. town -- and yet is located in Canada. I did, though, notice that one of the paragraphs towards the end opens with: "In Season Six..." and then continues with a description of the show's denouement. I'm a fan of the show, but that's skipping ahead for me; ergo, I believe some sort of "spoiler alert" is necessary to append, either near the beginning of the entire article or just in front of that paragraph in particular. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.173.76.106 (talk) 07:39, 9 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Third Street[edit]

… Third Street held various other names, … including … "Chargogagogmanchogagogcharbunagunggamog." … This place-name is based on the local name for a lake in Webster, Massachusetts, which is more formally known as Webster Lake.

The gogs also put me in mind of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. —Tamfang (talk) 04:20, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
