Executive only[edit]

The lead paragraph excludes the legislative and judicial branches with the statement:

"has constitutional officers who lead the executive branch of the state governments of the United States."

Each state constitution also specifies officers for at least the judiciary and the legislative branches and identifies powers or authorities that they exercise. Some of the specified offices in the article reside in the legislative branch of government for various states.

The article needs to recognize that the term "constitutional officer" applies beyond the executive branch of government.

Good point. I'll look into adding a section on legislative officers when I have the chance to do some research (although if anyone else wants to do so first, feel free of course). Generally speaking, I don't believe the term "officer" applies to judges, but I added a link to state supreme courts. Orser67 (talk) 04:53, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
