Purchasing tickets?[edit]

Why did someone delete the link to purchasing tickets? If a person stumbled upon this website and wanted to go directly to the ticketing website, I would think a direct link to the ticketing page should be welcomed, not deleted. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Knicks0101 (talkcontribs) 24 May 2006.

Wikipedia is not the place for commercial links, and is not here to promote other websites. Please see WP:EL and WP:SPAM. Thanks --AbsolutDan (talk) 13:53, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I am just trying to make it more convenient for the customer to purchase tickets. It (wikipedia) certainly is here to promote other websites, as it links to something on almost every single page I've ever looked at. However, reading over everything, I agree that you are correct. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Knicks0101 (talkcontribs) 24 May 2006.
Articles are not meant to make it easier for a reader to buy something. Articles are meant to give information about a subject to the reader. Think about a paper encyclopedia - would you expect to open up the Encyclopedia Britannica and find a phone number for TicketMaster in an article about the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra?
External links are intended solely to provide readers with additional useful information that is not appropriate for the article for one reason or another.
If you find other links that don't fit the guidelines for External links, you can always be bold and remove them yourself! That's the beauty of Wikipedia --AbsolutDan (talk) 14:14, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

SI Yankee lineage?[edit]

What is this teams pre-Staten Island franchise history? It is NOT the Oneonta Yankees (which was the NY Penn team that the Yankees were affiliated with before moving to Staten Island). The Oneonta franchise remains in Oneonta, now affiliated with the Tigers.

Were the 1999 SI Yankees an expansion team? I think that needs to be addressed in this article. Milchama 11:28, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Staten Island Yankees were not an expansion team. The Watertown Indians signed a PDC with the New York Yankees after the 1998 season, and then moved to Staten Island.

Fair use rationale for Image:SIyankees.PNG[edit]

Image:SIyankees.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The team logo posted is incorrect, there should be the text Staten Island underneath the Yankees text. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 153.2.247.33 (talk) 12:28, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The posted logo seems incorrect, when you browse around MILB and their webpage, they are still using the logo with the hat and baseball bat, that appears to still be their official logo. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 153.2.247.16 (talk) 17:57, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A look around their website shows no use of the "Yankees" script logo. The Uncle Sam on bat logo seems to be the actual logo. I have changed the infobox logo image accordingly. NatureBoyMD (talk) 19:47, 14 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
