Paternity of the article Stephen Soldz[edit]

Hi there!,
Just for the news it was me that had the idea of creating this article the 10th of July 2008.
I am obviously aware that all my contributions on wikipedia are released under the GFDL license, but I like to see that even if cannot claim for copyright on my articles, I can always rely on the fact that my real name and surname appears on the list of the editors of certain articles.
This article in particular was suggested to be deleted under speedy deletion on friday the 11th of July by RayAYang.
Even if I promptly applied the tag {{hangon}} the article was deleted by the administrator Tanthalas39 that allegedly didn't check that there were 7 articles that were linking to the Stephen Soldz entry [1].
Finally it was rewritten (very well I must admit) by Ecoleetage that seems to have had the idea of creating the article in the first place which is not the case because the REAL history of the article has gone lost.
Noone has apologized yet for the inconvenience.
I guess this event shows how wikipedia editors in general need lots of patience in dealing with each other.

Thanks for your time in reading me.

Um... No article has a "paternity", and who exactly do you think owes whom an apology and why?--Storkk (talk) 11:01, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

subject RE: I am working on your biography on the english wikipedia

Hi Maurice,

thans for this! What a pleasnt surprise and a honor. By DoB is November 19, 1952.
I'm attching two pictures that can be used.

I do have problems with this sentence:

"In August 2007, Soldz, in his capacity as Director of the Center for Research, Evaluation, and Program Development at the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis, sought to have the American Psychological Association ban the involvement by professional psychologists in the interrogation of prisoners held by the Central Intelligence Agency."
1. It is NOT in my capacity as Director of CREPD that I do this. It is on my own. This wording could cause serious problems for me.
2. It is not just CIA prisoners, but also Defense Department. Perhaps change "prisoners held by the Central Intelligence Agency" to "interrogation of 'enemy combatant' prisoners held by the CIA and Defense Department."
Under External Links could you list my blog: Psyche, Science and Society: http://psychoanalystsopposewar.org/blog/
Thanks SO much for this!
Take care,
Stephen Soldz

Did you know that this article had been deleted when I first edited it?
Do you know what the Streisand effect is about?
According to the wikipedia definition... i quote:

The Streisand effect is a phenomenon on the Internet where an attempt to censor or remove a piece of information backfires, causing the information to be widely publicized. Examples are attempts to censor a photograph, a file, or even a whole website, especially by means of cease-and-desist letters. Instead of being suppressed, the information sometimes quickly receives extensive publicity, often being widely mirrored across the Internet, or distributed on file-sharing networks.(...)

--- LOL, now the article is mentioned in the maing page of english wikipedia.
Maurice Carbonaro (talk) 11:07, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Streisand effect only works when the attempt to censor is made by a government, or well known corporation. It doesn't work if the attempting person(s) claim to be independent of any governments or known corporations. 173.183.79.81 (talk) 04:55, 4 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
