Needs rewriting to conform to NPOV[edit]

This article desperately needs a rewrite, preferably not by the stickam marketing department, to sound more encyclopedic and less spammy advertisement Scirocco6 (talk) 20:29, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Also, one of the officials of Stickam, Pamela Day, keeps astroturfing this article, in blatant violation of Wikipedia's clear rules on Conflict of Interest. Iamcuriousblue (talk) 01:01, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Never post the truth[edit]

I post facts about Stickam's website, and Wikipedia sends this message "This is your last warning; the next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Talk:Stickam, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Active Banana" \ Posting facts about something is vandalism. 99.65.118.32 (talk) 04:40, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

And this has to do with improving the article.... how? see WP:TPG Active Banana (bananaphone 04:42, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removed pioneer claim[edit]

DaveBurstein (talk) 02:37, 31 March 2011 (UTC) I write about broadband and in 2000-2002 reported on several companies including youstreamit (if I remember the name right) that offered similar services to Stickam. While most failed - the state of the art then was credit card sized - they clearly predate the 2005 start of this company. Beyond that, I know nothing about the other issues about the firm and have no connection in any way.[reply]

Removed User spamming CP under News[edit]

There were no references to the alleged spamming by two users and after doing some research using various search engines I could not find anything to support the supposed news so I ended up removing it. 1Q84 (talk) 19:57, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

End of Stickam - January 31, 2013 11:59 PM[edit]

The official shutdown of the site was January 31, 2013 at 11:59 PM Pacific. The site however WILL remain up until February 28, 2013 so that users may download old videos and such off of it, but it is not longer a functional website. And after February 28 will no longer exist. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.238.153.77 (talk) 08:57, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Actually the demise of Stickam is inaccurate, only the U.S. service has been discontinued. Stickam in Japan is still in operation. Might I suggest that the article be changed back to say that it still exists but just not in the U.S. TheGoofyGolfer (talk) 23:08, 5 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It's not active in Canada either. If there's evidence of it still being active in other countries I suggest we provide proof on a per-nation basis of that. In the meantime, can we perhaps list in the 'see also' section similar sites to Stickam so that people upset about the closure will know where to go? Ranze (talk) 21:32, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
although there is a closing-secture, i still don't understand, why stickam went shot down. i just want to know the reasons, but can't find anything...--78.43.41.8 (talk) 13:27, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Expounding on security/abuse[edit]

I feel as if this article should contain more than just a passing mention of the abuse issues that plagued the service throughout its existence (i.e. the frequent sexual acts by minors, the recording and subsequent wide-spread propagation of the recordings of those acts, and the 4chan [et al.] raids from which they came). It's a noteworthy and highly controversial part of the site's history, and it was a major factor in the decision to discontinue the service. ∆ nbmatt 10:23, 12 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@NBMATT I second that. It very much appears to me that Stickam was shutdown for its perceived immoral behavior and possible corrupting of youth. I was a member in 2012 and remember a fair amount of people smoking pot and an incidence of a female child exhibiting herself on cam. Dennis Blewett (talk) 13:17, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Website link[edit]

This page was made for historical purposes, right? I don't think that the website should be a clickable link, as it redirects to a third-party adult website. AnUnusualGuy (talk) 13:46, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
