Technology milestones[edit]

Could someone explain how below entries are technology milestones and not marketing hype milestones?

2001 - StorageTek introduces virtual networking. What product? If it is about StorageNet 6000, then it may be: introduction of virtual tape in open environments.

2003 - StorageTek introduces the EchoView™ data protection appliance, a disk-based appliance that eliminates the backup window. Announced. Anyone have seen EchoView shipped and implementing continuous data protection in production environment? When?

Yes, EchoView shipped to a small set of customers before being outsourced to India and then eventually canceled. 192.18.101.5 (talk) 15:30, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Advertising & Promotional Language Used in Article[edit]

According the the article "New management was inserted under the direction of Ryal Poppa, a visionary yet dogmatic leader who steered the company out of disaster and led one of the most notable turnarounds in the history of the computer industry." Later it describes "The creativity and innovation of StorageTek's engineers," and then "StorageTek's highly-trained and dedicated field force, a legacy of Howard Derby."

The language is akin to that used in advertising. I believe that it may rise to the level of advertising because the language is arguably neither unbiased nor objective. Note that the IBM entry does not have similar descriptions, even though they have probably employed some creative and innovative engineers.
