Written in C or C++?[edit]

Hasn't Stratagus been rewritten in C++?

Indeed the homepage says so. I wonder when they release the next version.
Yes it has or is currently being rewritten in C++. The current 2.1 release was written in C thou. The developers plan to release 2.2-BETA soon....hopefully--220.244.72.6 09:49, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article up for deletion[edit]

This article has been tagged for deletion. We need to improve the references on this article. I know that the cease-and-decist letter was scanned and posted online somewhere; we need to find out where it is. We also need more references. Also, that Blizzard took the effort to send a cease-and-decist letter should qualify it for notability. — Val42 15:17, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability?[edit]

I think it has notability because Stratagus is one of the leading games that is made for anyone else to base theirs off of. When people search for "Build your own RTS", Stratagus always comes up.

Stratagus has also been the leading Open source example of good idea open to the public.

It's much more notable for the cease-and-desist, to be honest. But that's still probably enough to escape an AfD. Chris Cunningham 19:54, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ironic how it comes up often for "Build your own RTS" since the FAQ states, verbatim:
Q: How do I create a game using the engine?
A: We strongly recommend that you help an existing game instead of creating yet another one. There are way to many wannabe games and none finished.
Not exactly inspiring, wouldn't you say? --FuegoFish (talk) 01:35, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"I understand where you're coming from with that. :) Honestly, how many people claim to start a project and never finish it. I believe the point is that it is a popular 'build your own RTS engine'. That's what it's made for." Lucky Foot (talk) 18:03, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is a useful article for the cease and desist and as an open source project. Please do not delete. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.91.92.157 (talk) 14:29, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

this is most definitely notable enough to remain[edit]

Stratagus is used in research. Here are some papers that use Stratagus (And the wargus subgame).
