formula 1 engine, relevance?[edit]

It was sourced from wikipedia, and because there is no category for Subaru Engines and may have been developed using EJ engines, it seems fitting to add it here (Dddike (talk) 18:30, 10 January 2008 (UTC)).[reply]

expansion of head gasket problems?[edit]

The primary reason a lot of people might come to this page is to find out which engines have the propensity for blowing head gaskets and which don't. The section on the EJ25D mentions this, but it would be nice to see more about how the problem was solved in later models. The reason they blow is due to the single layer headgasket design rather than any thing intrinsic to the non-turbo motors PissAngle (talk) 12:57, 17 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I agree more info needs to be added to that as well as some information assuring that the latest SUBARU head gasket for that particular engine DOES solve the problem. Are these two-stroke or four-stroke engines?[edit]

The article does not say.

Also .. some comment on reliability would be good/helpful (I am thinking of light aircraft usage).

Diesel versions[edit]

85 KW EJ20 in 2nd gen. Legacy / Reliable source?[edit]

While browsing for a second hand car I noticed that the second generation Subaru Legacy appearantly was delivered with an 85 KW (116hk/PS) EJ20 engine here in Norway. This engine does not appear to be mentioned on wikipedia. My source for this information is the website of a car parts shop (http://www.mekonomen.no) that links information from the national vehicle registry which is maintained by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. JDM EJ20 with 140kW (190PS)[edit]

Is there a source available for the information on this engine? I'm personally interested in obtaining/emulating this particular engine if it does exist but the only place I can find it mentioned is on this page. I'm beginning to think someone made a typo meaning to refer to a 160PS EJ20 (which I can confirm exists as the EJ204 in the 2005-2007 Australian market Impreza RS)... but reading the (translated) Japanese version of this page casts doubt on the typo theory.

04 -05 North American Forester XT apparently has 2 engine options[edit]

04 -05 North American Forester XT is listed to have the 255

then

04 -05 USA Forester XT is listed to have 257

I understand that the block is the same between the 04-05 Forester XT and the USA WRX STI's block and that is noted but having the Forester XT listed under both is misleading. We should be going by factory designations not part similarities PissAngle (talk) 13:06, 17 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
