Existing article focus is too narrow. "Subsea" is much more than oil and gas.[edit]

The article is currently written as if the term "subsea" is the exclusive province of the oil and gas industry. This is not the case. The term is widely used in marine biology, geology and in the emerging field of deep-water, floating wind turbine technology. N2e (talk) 18:37, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have modified the lede and clarified sections to initiate a broadening of the article beyond the oil and gas industry. N2e (talk) 02:59, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Good approach N2e. I am from oil & gas background but know that there is many industries involved in subsea operations. I will provide some additional information on ROV / geotechnical / marine aspects over the coming weeks. andyminicooper (talk) 21:12, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I modified the lead (now 6 years later) to add breadth to the article. I will add some information about subsea energy (an area where I have expertise) and the other topics such as exploration using AUVs.
