Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because Sunny Sauceda himself has asked this page be created. I am trying to add content with appropriate references. Please don't delete.--Piperlemoine (talk) 17:17, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of Interest[edit]

I do not have a conflict of interest and am not writing this page with subjective or promotional language. I am an independent Tejano music journalist who has been published in The Guardian, has a regular Tejano music feature at Austin Vida, and my non-profit organization, Rancho Alegre Radio, has interviewed over 60 Tejano and Conjunto music artists. We interviewed Mr. Sauceda in 2011 and he asked me to create this page because I am one of very few writers who specialize in Tejano music who also has the technical capability (and patience!) to use Wikipedia to document his place in the genre.

Tejano music is heavily underdocumented, and the more artists with pages on Wikipedia, the better it is for the future of the genre.

Notability[edit]

As a Grammy-winning artist, he fulfills the notability requirement, as well. See #8 for Notability Criteria for Musicians.

That may be so, and if further reliable sources can be added the notability requirement won't be an issue. There is a conflict of interest: Sunny Sauceda himself has asked this page be created and Tejano music is heavily underdocumented, and the more artists with pages on Wikipedia, the better it is for the future of the genre are well-intentioned explanations, but they do underscore an agenda. Wikipedia doesn't exist to promote a genre or an individual, nor to enhance future prospects. That said, if a subject is under-documented here, and can be expanded through the support of reliable sources, any and all contributions are welcome. JNW (talk) 18:19, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
