Requested move[edit]

The result of the move request was: Page moved. Since there are no opposes, and the editor who carried out the original move is neutral on the matter, it seems uncontroversial to move it back. (non-admin closure) — Amakuru (talk) 14:06, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Super 8 Worldwide → Super 8 Motels – With respect to Steel1943, I think the move of this page to the company's official name was hasty. The former name remains the WP:COMMONNAME based on evidence. In a general Google search, "super 8 motels" beats "super 8 worldwide" 815,000 to 209,000. In Google Books, it's 5450 to 5 (!). All searches included -wikipedia. Furthermore, it's very unlikely that the current name would be used in non-official contexts; it really smacks of branding. On the other hand, COMMONNAME says " If the name of a person, group, object, or other article topic changes, then more weight should be given to the name used in reliable sources published after the name change than in those before the change." I wasn't even aware of this until very recently because from what I've seen, this clause seems to generally be ignored. BDD (talk) 19:52, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Neutral. @BDD: This was one of my first edits ever on Wikipedia, back during the days when I was trying to "learn the ropes". I boldly performed this move when it was recommended to me by another editor on my talk page. (Click here to see the archived discussion on my talk page).
