DAB feedback[edit]

Superbowl is an extraordinarily common misspelling of the NFL Super Bowl event. It is also a concert venue in Sun City, South Africa. There are interesting DAB implications here. I've updated the article from a redirect to a DAB, and created this Talk page expecting feedback. UW Dawgs (talk) 17:34, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

UW Dawgs I agree that this article should be moved to Superbowl (disambiguation) and that for the resulting redirect at Superbowl should instead point to Super Bowl. We'd hat the latter article using {{About|the American football championship game|Superbowl (disambiguation)}}. We could be bold and make the change now but will need administrator help as Superbowl (disambiguation) has an edit history that would be lost. Pinging Finlay McWalter who seems to be the only other editor with more than casual drive-by interest in this article before filing a request at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion or Wikipedia:Requested moves. I did not see any evidence that the move would be controversial other than with the NFL Super Bowl coming up there will be more than the usual amount of traffic here. --Marc Kupper|talk 19:35, 22 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I really don't have an opinion, either way. All I've really done here is routine maintenance. Personally, as long as someone can quickly (not necessarily in one click) find what they're looking for, I find worrying about the distribution of dabs and redirs to be unproductive. -- Finlay McWalter··–·Talk 19:40, 22 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'd agree with that if it was a few people per week but in this case there are are well over 1000 people landing on this page per day at times people would typically be interested in the NFL Super Bowl.
  • "Page views in the past 30 days: 7,001"[1]
  • For January 2020 there are spikes on each weekend day had NFL football playoffs.[2]
  • Looking at the last year shows spikes leading up to the 2019 Super Bowl and then a slight increase in attention when the NFL football season starts in September.[3]
  • Focusing on last year's NFL Super Bowl shows over 600 per day on the Friday and Saturday leading up the game, 2244 on the day of the game, 4821 on the day after the game, and then it rapidly drops to background radiation station.[4]
There's a workaround where anyone can copy/paste the wikitext from this article to Superbowl (disambiguation) and to change this article to be a redirect. As that's an easily reversible action I'll go ahead with it. --Marc Kupper|talk 17:11, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Cut and paste moves are never a good thing on Wikipedia. Use WP:RM to request a move. If you think the case is strong enough, you could propose as technical request. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bkonrad (talkcontribs) 17:40, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have put the move request in at Wikipedia:Requested_moves/Technical_requests. --Marc Kupper|talk 18:51, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
