The article says it folded in 1813. Then later it cites voyages until 1821.
Think you got it wrong, the company had a privilege until 1821, but as it ceased to exist in 1813 that privilege was never used. Ulflarsen 10:59, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The sentence "During its existence from 1731 to 1821 the SOIC launched 132 expeditions.... " is rather misleading then.
The last section of the article says that some history enthusiasts built a replica ship and set out for China in 2005. Were they successful? I get the impression that this part of the article was written while the voyage was in progress. (Huey45 (talk) 08:21, 13 March 2010 (UTC))[reply]
The correct translation of the book title "Min son på galejan" is really "My son on the galley", not "in", see the official translation by Peter Graves in the refs. If the title only referred to life on the boat, the correct title would be "My son in the galley". But the phrase "på galejan" also means "to be on a roll", "be on the go", "have fun", "get drunk and have a ball", etc, in Swedish. And this is what the book is all about. It's a book about all the things a 17 year old guy does on a boat with free booze on its way to China, while his parents are at home in Sweden... I leave the rest to your imagination.
