Not really the first "Survival Horror" game[edit]

The article contends that Sweet Home is considered to be the first "survival horror" game. However, many of the elements of the "genre" ("Survival horror" are simply action/adventure games with horror themes, and so most likely a subgenre of action/adventure) predate "Sweet Home". Indeed, a game released months before Sweet Home, Friday the 13th, based on the slasher film series, has many of the elements: item hunting, puzzle solving, horror inspired storyline, and overpowering enemies. And to boot it even features the character swapping found in the later Resident Evil games. Even before that, however, Haunted House for Atari 2600/VCS had all the elements of the "survival horror" subgenre years before Sweet Home was released.

While Sweet Home influenced Resident Evil in some ways, the former was not the first of the subgenre, and so I have removed the statement in question.

Resident Evil Name[edit]

The article states, "Rumor is that the Biohazard series' American and European title Resident Evil, was taken from a note found in Sweet Home, which refers to the mansion as a "house of residing evil.", while some sources say the message was an easter egg added in by the fan translators." -- I feel this part should be removed, mostly because the U.S. name of Biohazard was named so at the urging of Capcom USA, and it's highly doubtful anyone at Capcom USA, at the time, had played Sweet Home. The article seems to also contradict itself, the beginning of the article states, "The game was based on the Japanese horror film of the same name.", and yet, under 'The movie' heading, it says "The game and the movie were simultaneously released so it's not really clear if the movie is based on the video game or vice versa."

Shouldn't the bit about this game influencing the development of Biohazard be correct instead of the localized title? Reset by peer (talk) 22:08, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Shgame.jpg[edit]

Image:Shgame.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 15:57, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Relations[edit]

"[Kazuo's] wife died prior to the game, and is the suspected love interest of Akiko."

Is this saying that his wife is the love interest (as grammar would lead one to believe), or that Kazuo himself is (as logic would lead one to believe)? If the latter is true, this leads to be reworked. T.J. Fuller, Jr. 04:27, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take on this review (consider it thanks for you choosing to review Princess Crown). If I'm not back by next Saturday, then I've been intolerably slack and you should ping me. --ProtoDrake (talk) 20:47, 22 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Review[edit]

The only thing I can see really wrong or off is File:SweetHomeInGame1.png. This needs looking at, as it uses an outdated free use rational type, and has no source or description of a source.

Aside from that, there's no need to put it on hold or anything, since it should be a simple fix. Otherwise it's a very well-written and informative article. --ProtoDrake (talk) 08:01, 26 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@TarkusAB: Good. Now that's sorted, I see no reason to hold it back. Pass! --ProtoDrake (talk) 08:56, 27 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
