Icewind Dale merge[edit]

I can understand the Luskan and Neverwinter merges into this article, but not the Icewind Dale and Ten Towns, as this is not technically correct. Whilst ON the Sword Coast in geographical terms, much like Amn, Tethyr and Calimshan, Icewind Dale is also a separate political entity, strangely not stated in your Geographical index of Toril article. However this, coupled with the amount of information provided Icewind Dale and the Ten Towns (which should be one article, as the Ten Towns are within Icewind Dale politically and geograohically), and its tie in with the Icewind Dale Trilogy and video games, provides a fairly strong arguement for a separate article.

I didn't go back and look at any books, but to me the Waterdeep-to-Luskan section has always meant "Sword Coast". Do the maps center on a different part of that western coast? To me Icewind Dale feels like the separate "neighbor" to the north and Amn/Climshan the same to the south. So count this as "I agree based on memories and impressions, but I didn't check the books." I merged Icewind Dale into this article because it is categorized as an "Important Site" on the Sword Coast (North) in the 3E Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting. I didn't have seperate political entities as a criterium only regional placing and the short length - most are/were just 8 lines (or less) and 10-15 links. Looking at Amn, Tethyr and Calimshan now, they might as well be merged into Lands of Intrigue because of their short size. Poulsen 22:24, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The end of Luskan[edit]

In the prologue to "The Orc King", Santore's new novel, Drizzt mentions that he witnessed "the death of once-proud Luskan, and with it, the death of a dear, dear friend, whose dreams lay shattered and broken beside the bodies of five thousand victims." Since nobody has objected I'm removing the "notability" tag. I agree the article is not well written, but given the subject matter and references its notability is unquestionable.
