Northern trail[edit]

I am having difficulty getting hold of information about the northern trail and a complete list of Sykes churches. I have emailed the East Yorkshire Historic Churches Group for more details and will add to the article using info from the southern circuit leaflet when I know more.--Harkey (talk) 11:01, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Would be good to have a note about the trail on each of the Church articles, if they exist, or on the village articles. Keith D (talk) 16:24, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Will do that ASAP for southern trail and when I get the northern trail info. Maybe also a sentence about each church on the trail article.--Harkey (talk) 16:31, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I did think about co-ordinates for each of the churches and then adding a {{kml}} template to map them, I was experimenting last night with a hidden entry on the List of schools in Hull and think I will add as hidden information to the OS column. Keith D (talk) 20:02, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Good idea. I too was thinking about a map of the churches when I got both circuits. I have found three more Sykes churches at East Heslerton, Helperthorpe and Kirby Grindalythe but they are now in North Yorkshire. I'm wondering whether the other trail was ever published. They didn't have it at the tourist information centres at the Humber Bridge or Beverley --Harkey (talk) 20:21, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The other possibility is a map like the one I added to List of civil parishes in the East Riding of Yorkshire. May be we could do both then we have a quick visual on the page and people can get to google earth mapping of the churches easily. I thought that I got paper copies of the trails from one of the churches but cannot put my hand on it, may be I left it up in Hull. Keith D (talk) 21:33, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's a good map, just about right for the number of locations.--Harkey (talk) 21:41, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've had a reply to my email and they are to forward some (leaflet) info to me soon. Great stuff!!--Harkey (talk) 08:22, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh dear. Email says, "Profuse apologies - There is no Northern Sykes Trail leaflet as yet." Funding problems. I have been promised a list though and that, with a bit of legwork, should help.--Harkey (talk) 09:30, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
List arrived. Sourced more information + refs online.--Harkey (talk) 21:26, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gallery?[edit]

What does anyone think about a gallery of pictures or two? Most seem to be either on Commons or Geograph. And, would another map overwhelm the page or would it be useful? Advice, please.--Harkey (talk) 18:07, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How about turning into a table with mini-photos as per List of civil parishes in South Yorkshire? Though may have to have something next to the map instead of a large white space. Keith D (talk) 18:54, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
So, columns for -- Image, Name, Notes, Co-ordinates? I tried to get the map to float centre - sorry center - to reduce the white space appearance, but it just jumps to the left.--Harkey (talk) 19:11, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Got an experimental sandbox copy to centre by putting it in a table and key in another column. I think it will look better?--Harkey (talk) 19:28, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Map looks better like that if you are going for a table. I would put non-breaking spaces either side of the = signs. Unsure if the image column may be best at the end of the table. Also may be best to go for OS references to shrink the column, you can hide the coord link behind it like I have been experimenting with List of schools in Hull so {{kml}} will work, though may be it may pick up from the location map entries have not tried that. Note though if you try kml output it will only work when you have saved the page and not in preview for some reason. Keith D (talk) 19:40, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Missing header?[edit]

I probably should have replaced/deleted the header. I just put in a blank to make it easier to edit when I was cutting and pasting. I am working on a table in my sandbox to replace some of the text.--Harkey (talk) 21:16, 10 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
