Where is the source for this information? Sounds like someone's personal experiance working with Sysprep and then trying to make it a fact (When really it wouldn't be a Disk Imaging/Sysprep issue, but rather a SATA Drivers issue - And SATA driver issues arn't specific to HP/Dell laptops, but rather most computers that boot from a SATA HDD.--220.239.221.186 08:29, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

I agree. This "issue" is not specific to any computer manufacturer and is not limited to laptops. The actual situation is that Windows XP doesn't include out-of-box mass storage drivers for these newer SATA controllers. While disabling SATA Emulation in the BIOS does allow an XP installation to boot on these controllers using out-of-box mass storage drivers, the appropriate method is to include the 3rd party driver for the SATA controller in the installation. From a sysprep prospective, this means including a valid entry in the [SysprepMassStorage] section in sysprep.inf. The inability to boot Windows XP without a required driver has nothing to do with Sysprep so this edit should be removed. Shogun01 09:52, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Partition size on cloned drives?

This depends upon the deployment tool being used as well as how it is used and has nothing to do with the functionality of sysprep other than to state that this setting can be included in a sysprep.inf file. Shogun01 06:30, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Encyclopedic in tone? Tutorial?

Previous contributors have written some extremely useful material, but parts of this article are heading towards becoming a tutorial or manual. In some places the tone is not encyclopedic. See WP:NOT#IINFO - "Wikipedia articles should not include instructions or advice " [...] " or contain "how-to"s. This includes tutorials, walk-throughs, instruction manuals...". This useful material should be moved to a sister site.
