Naming[edit]

大霧山 is not the correct name in Chinese. It's just a misconception, perhaps because of the similar pronunciation with 大帽山. -- LR4087 12:35, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Satellite compound[edit]

I've added a fact tag to the statement that the summit is occupied by a satellite compound. The term is a bit vague, as it could mean a compound that is a satellite of another establishment, or a compound containing equipment to communicate with satellites.

I'm guessing that the author meant the latter, but I have my doubts. There is no particular advantage to situating an satellite uplink on top of a mountain (1000m elevation is insignificant compared to the distance to geo-stationary orbit), and lots of obvious practical disadvantages. The photograph with the article shows what looks like radar equipment to me, which makes more sense in terms of needing altitude.

I've now found a cite and added it. It says the summit is occupied by the military, which certainly wasn't clear from the article as it stood. Obviously if it is a military establishment, we are pretty unlikely to find a citable source saying exactly what goes on there, so it is best to settle with just military.
