Suggested updates and additions[edit]

This post is in a professional capacity as part of Lafarge Tarmac’s communications team with some suggestions to improve the content on this page in terms of accuracy and detail.

Current third paragraph, fifth/sixth line, of the History section reads: “Lafarge and Anglo American agreed to the sale of £285 million worth of British assets to Mittal Investments”. The suggestion is to add ‘to create a new player in the construction materials industry’ at the end of the sentence for accuracy.

Due to the position in the text following reference to the creation of Hope Cement Limited (History section, third para, seventh line) the sentence might benefit if it were to read: The Lafarge Tarmac merger was completed in March 2013 following receipt of necessary approvals from the Competition Commission.[9]

Additional information suggestions are detailed below, including references, where appropriate.

New section heading: Operations

Lafarge Tarmac has a nationwide UK presence, operating from over 330 locations across the UK comprising cement plants, an integrated lime and cement plant with associated rail depot network, aggregates quarries, ready-mix concrete plants and asphalt plants, as well as a significant waste service business.

The company employs over 6,600 people and is a leading producer of aggregates, asphalt, cement, lime and readymix concrete. ^[1]. It also provides road contracting, building products and recycling services.

With ongoing investment in R&D, and a focus on innovation and customer- led solutions, Lafarge Tarmac is helping customers to embed sustainable construction best practice. ^[2]

New section heading: Major projects

Lafarge Tarmac has been involved in major UK construction projects in recent years including Wembley Stadium, Emirates Stadium, Crossrail, RWE npower’s Pembroke Power Station, Heathrow Terminal 5, The Shard, the M1 widening, M25 resurfacing and London 2012.
