WikiProject class rating[edit]

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as stub, and the rating on other projects was brought up to Stub class. BetacommandBot 21:42, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Six years later I improved the article some, and bumped the rating up to Start --altho not for WP Japan which is beyond my comfort zone. --P64 (talk) 22:43, 27 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Alphabet[edit]

When alphabetizing this name, should it be listed under T for Taro or Y for Yashima? Which is considered the family name or the surname? -ErinHowarth (talk) 18:38, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Come on now, use your head. When saying or writing a Japanese name in Western setting or forum, you say given name first and last name second. Just as you do in United States. You say George Washington, not Washington George. Therefore his name is Taro Yashima not Yashima, Taro —Preceding unsigned comment added by 110.134.244.230 (talk) 18:25, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
But it should be ordered alphabetically as "Yashima, Taro". --as the article is in all of its categories, three years later, using {{DEFAULTSORT}}
One general source for U.S. alpha-ordering of writers, editors, and illustrators (that is, authors of books) is the Library of Congress. See the footer link LCCN. If template {{authority control}} is present without LCCN, then see link VIAF and select the US flag (and please add the LCCN id to the template).
