This doesn't make much sense[edit]

copyvio analysis[edit]

The following scribd URL http://www.scribd.com/doc/13294638/7/The-Ethnicity-of-its-People seems to be a copy/paste of some of the following booklet "Tarut Island: The Geography, History, Antiquities, Landmarks, and Social Life" by Murtadha alRuwaie at this URL: http://www.qatifoasis.com/?act=artc&id=1961&print=1 A quote from the scribd is:

"Tarut island was strategically estabilshed as a connector betweenthe East and the West. It was a place for merchants from all nations andraces to meet throughout history. The major questions about TarutIsland's history include: Who were the original natives? Who immigratedto the island? Did they leave valuable artifacts? The answers to these..."

which compares to the present version of the text:

"Tarut island was strategically located as a link between the East and the West. It was a place for merchants from all nations and races to meet throughout history. Major questions about Tarut Island are: Who were the first settlers? Who immigrated and settled on the island? Did they leave valuable artifacts? These questions are..."

Minor paraphrasing does not make the Wikipedia version into original text.

The edit history shows that the article was created and developed by User:Ruwaie, who failed on his/her talk page to respond to several warnings about image copyright problems. The images are now red tags, so presumably they were deleted. This suggests that the Wikipedian might be the same person who authored the booklet and be unclear about Wikipedia copyright issues. It's hard to check whether or not s/he still retained the copyright.

i think that solving this possible copyvio problem would require help from Arabic Wikipedia people, since i'm sure there must be a contact email or web contact form at qatifoasis.com. Boud (talk) 01:49, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Name of the island[edit]

Tarout is called Tarut in most of the sources and has a disambiguation page in that name. Could we not revert to Tarut as the main title and Tarout as disambiguation? Ducky59 (talk) 00:52, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Worshipping Servant statue from Tarout Island, 2500 BC[edit]

This statue seems to be of some Jain monk. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gommateshwara_statue Yamen had some connection with India perhaps & it is not impossible to have some influence in culture & tradition. Children of Sun & Moon are ruling rajput clans of India called as Surya Vamshi & Chandra Vamshi. Same type of ruling clans are seen in yamen.

Badly written article[edit]

The most important collections found in the Tarout was pure golden statue representing Ashtaroot goddess. The statue was found placed on the ground in one of the palm groves in the Tarout.

There are a lot of errors in general and citations missing, but this supposed gold statue in particular doesn't even seem to exist.
