Incorrect Trivia[edit]

Bad Picture[edit]

The picture doesnt match the description. I know its a hand made model, but the Tarrasque in D&D is an orange-brown color. It even says so in the article. Someone put up an image copyrighted to Wizards of the Coast/Hasbro from an old monster manual, as per these comments I reverted it back to my image for reasons of copyright. I don't believe fair use can apply if a reasonable free image exists. Tarrasque color varies widely 4th ed Monster Manual shows it as green, a text edit may add value. If there are ongoing concerns with the color someone may Photoshop the image with my blessing Maugan22 (talk) 07:06, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect Source[edit]

The following text is, to my knowledge, incorrect.

In the Spelljammer series, the accessory Practical Planetology suggests the tarrasques originate from the planet Falx. Several hundred tarrasques live there in a docile state, where they are silicavores (rock eaters); upon removal from their homeworld their temperament changes to the violent, rapacious one better known elsewhere in the Dungeons & Dragons universe.^[1]

Practical Planetology says nothing of the sort; in fact, it even calls out the Tarrasques as being at least carnivorous, as they prey on the lizard-like Imbul (page 56). The book has very little to say about the Falxian Tarrasques, in fact, beyond there being several hundred of them and some speculation about whether or not they are related to the unique creature.

There may be some other book that tells of their docile, silicavorous behaviour, but it is not Practical Planetology unless there is more information on pages other than 8 and 56. Thank you. Some searches on the internet have led me to believe that Book 2 and 4 of the Cloakmaster Cycle - Into the Void and The Radiant Dragon - feature Falx. However, the books are long out of print and the internet is being infuriatingly sparse in its descriptions of them.

I am not sure that the Tarrasque actually feature in them in any way (it is an Illithid homeworld, after all), but if someone out there has the books then please confirm that. 109.225.68.107 (talk) 22:48, 10 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The tarrasque is a greatly feared creature. It spends most of its time dormant, sleeping deep in an underground lair. Its sleeping periods range from a couple of months up to thousands of years. After these periods the tarrasque awakes, erupting from its underground lair, terrorizing the nearby area, smashing every structure, devouring both plant and meat alike, killing anyone who opposes it, and ultimately turning the area into a barren wasteland.

The older the tarrasque gets, the longer its periods of sleep seem to last. The tarrasque never weakens or loses its lust for destruction.

Combat

The tarrasque is a highly destructive creature. It needs to eat constantly and savors its desire to destroy in order to survive. As a result, it has many combat methods. It can attack with its tail, its claws, its spikes and horns, by stomping, by grabbing and by slamming its massive 130-ton body into opponents. The creature does not have a breath weapon, but it can swallow victims whole. It can inspire terror in people by charging or rushing. Its armor, in addition to giving excellent melee protection, can also deflect all manner of offensive spells, and the tarrasque has some regeneration abilities.
