This is a familial name also. It is my belief that my personal ancestors may have during anglicanization of their words and names maintained their familial name's Gaelic pronunciation, Tighe. Throughout the area of my family's roots (in the southern US) the name is pronounced the same. They came over during the potato famine though there were multiple famines I am not sure which one.

Its a predominately welsh name from my readings and sort of rare as an Irish family name. Though the book I read this in was old when I was in high school and could have been out-dated information. It listed Teague as meaning : Of the fair skin or Living near a common pasture. I have no recollection of the title though. Kind of a stark contrast in names. Any help appreciated with this.
