From what has been revealed about Patapon, it's more likely to have been conceived by the Locoroco team than Team ICO. The Team ICO-influenced graphics may be explained by a Team ICO alumni being the lead designer on this game. It's unconfirmed that Team ICO have had an actual hand in Patapon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by PanStre ITA (talkcontribs) 14:20, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Capitalization[edit]

"ICO" isn't an acronym, so why is it capitalized like that? The title of the game isn't. Erigu (talk) 08:23, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Does Team ICO still exist?[edit]

My understanding is that Team ICO no longer exists, and that work on the Last Guardian is basically being completed by Sony Japan with consulting work done by Ueda's new team, GenDesign. Drsmoo (talk) 22:31, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • This seems to be correct. From what I understand, Team Ico folded and was absorbed into GenDesign, rather than them being re-named (and still serving the same purpose). ~ Dissident93 (talk) 22:36, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Company "continuity" between Team ICO and GenDesign[edit]

When Konami shut down Kojima Productions and Kojima "reformed" the company as an independent studio with the same name, it seams like it was decided that his new company should be seen as a continuation of the old one, so the two share an article on Wikipedia, and are essentially treated as the same company. As far as I understand the situation with Team ICO/GenDesign is similar in that the lead director Ueda along with a number of former staff members of the team left Sony (thereby shutting down Team ICO) and reformed as a independent studio, only with a different name. If that's the case then should Team ICO and GenDesign have separate articles, if one is simply a continuation of the other? If GenDesign is the successor to Team ICO, then should this page be renamed to GenDesign with Team ICO treated as though it was the former name? At the very least, GenDesign's logo, containing a very Ico and Yorda-like boy and a girl, seams to suggest that they themselves see the new company as a continuation of the old one.

Also, do we know what level of continuity actually exists between the two studios - as in, how many people who were part of the original Team ICO moved over to GenDesign? I remember reading that the team was quite flexible, and would scale up and down as the projects progressed (rather then being treated as an isolated studio by Sony), but I would assume there was a more permanent core surrounding Ueda, and if so, how many of those people are now working at GenDesign? 81.103.122.41 (talk) 22:40, 6 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A serious difficulty is that the fate of Team Ico and how that came to GenDesign is rather murky, and I have never found agreement in sources that we can use to document this. I would agree that if the situation is as explained, then yes, it would be a successor, but we simply don't have sources for that. --MASEM (t) 23:11, 6 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ideally GenDesign would have its own article, but there really isn't that much to write about them currently, outside of them succeeding Team Ico. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 17:27, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
