Clean up of family background[edit]

This a an article for Teddy Gueritz's biography, and not also for members of his family. Therefore, I've moved some of the unwelcome extra details here.

Elton Laurence Gueritz was based in Africa (Nigeria and Gambia), and later retired to Cheltenham, and died at the age of 46 in 1931.

His brother, John Elton Fortescue Gueritz (b. 1911),[1][2] became a second lieutenant in the Territorial Army in 1933,[3] transferring to a regular commission in the British Indian Army in 1935.[4] There he was seconded to the Indian Political Service,[5] and was based in the princely states of Chattisgarh and Raipur.[2] With the independence of India, he left the army with the rank of lieutenant colonel in 1948.[6] He subsequently worked for the British Council in Tehran,[7] and later became Secretary of the St. John Ambulance Association in the United Kingdom.[8]

His other sister, Eleanor Elton Gueritz (b. 1916) served in the Auxiliary Territorial Service during the Second World War.[9] She was attached to the Women's Army Corps (India) and married another Indian Army officer, William Richard Feaver, in 1945.[10]
