'Irish Telecommunications' in English[edit]

"The Irish Telecommunications Board" is used in the establishing legislation, however was it actually used as "Irish Telecommunications" in an official or day-to-day sense? If not I suggest removal as wikipedia WP:NOR could be crossed quite easily. Djegan 11:23, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have no problem if you wish it to be removed, the reason I added it was as a point of information for non-Irish people, so they can see what Telecom Éireann may mean. Telecom Éireann was never called Irish Telecom by the public or company, but was sometimes referred to simply as "Telecom".

Name[edit]

I think that "Telecom Éireann" should actually be "Telecom Eireann" without the accent. Look at the corporate logo, look at the advert at the bottom of the article page, and look at the Weatherline from Telecom Eireann promo. The act states "Bord Telecom Éireann" or "The Irish Telecommunications Board", but the former was no more the everyday name anymore than the latter.

Someone find an official usage of "Telecom Éireann"? Djegan (talk) 18:12, 18 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
