Juju music[edit]

Is the tenor guitar used in juju music related to this instrument?

See, for example, this article on King Sunny Adé.

Interesting; I'd never heard of this. This site explains it as simply a guitar that plays single-note lines (maybe like a finger-picked ostinato), as opposed to the lead, rhythm, or bass guitars. This was supposed to have been first developed by Fela Kuti, then spread from Afrobeat to juju via King Sunny Ade. I believe the "tenor guitar" line would be played by a normal 6-string electric guitar. Badagnani 07:50, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lou Barlow[edit]

Lou Barlow has never been known for playing a tenor guitar. he uses a uke, a small <= 6-string or a standard acoustic w/ only 4 strings (see http://www.flickr.com/photos/nailest/2445729285/ or http://www.flickr.com/photos/sidemouse/439724821) in addition to regular 6-string but not a tenor. Should we remove him from the article, then? Badagnani (talk) 04:06, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
already did that. Arleach (talk) 04:19, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What is this, a Martin ad?[edit]

I didn't delete anything, just made paragraph breaks, but there is way too much detail about Martin (and Elderly).

Modern players[edit]

Neko Case is well known for Gretsch Duo Jet tenor and plays it often. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.8.212.149 (talk) 03:37, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tuning[edit]

"Tenor guitars are normally tuned in fifths (usually CGDA, similar to the tenor banjo or the viola)..." So is that the CGDA that the viola is tuned in (C3 G3 D4 A4) ? Webrobate (talk) 14:51, 9 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes @Webrobate. rootsmusic (talk) 02:40, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

the string[edit]

what is the posibble tenor guitar string ? Made ata (talk) 07:28, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you are asking what is the tuning of the strings, that is covered in the "Tuning" section of the article. If you are asking about manufacturers that make strings for tenor guitars, that I cannot help you with, but would be something to quickly mention in the article. oknazevad (talk) 13:56, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
