Junior[edit]

Please keep the "junior" in Terence M. O'Sullivan, Jr.. His father was a notable Laborers' Union official as well. At some point, Wikipedia will have an article on O'Sullivan Sr., and this will help distinguish the two. - Tim1965 05:21, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The "jr." should be removed. The father is "Terence J." and most style books limit use of JR and Sr to "identically named fathers and sons." The O'Sullivans do not use them. A reference to the father should be enough for your purpose, don't you think?Bigbadger79 20:18, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Charleston, WV vs. Parkersburg, WV[edit]

The cite says Parkersburg. Maybe the cite is incorrect? Regardless, the way Wikipedia deals with such things is for a new cite to be found which claims Charleston, and then to add the new cite to the article. A footnote should be added which explains that the other cite says Parkersburg, and there is disagreement among published sources as to where the local is. - Tim1965 (talk) 15:27, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Some things to consider are that the local may have more than one office. Another is that the local may have an office in Parkersburg, but the local could have organized units in Charleston (and O'Sullivan is a member of the unit or chapter). Or, the local could have moved its office between the date of the cite and now. Perhaps a solution is to remove the reference to the city altogether (although I tend to not want to do that, because knowing where O'Sullivan lives, works, and is a union leader is important). As a member of LIUNA local 1353 Charleston, WV I can assure there is no other office, Parkersburg, WV is local 1085. Regardless, I went to the archives and pulled the article cited, and it most definitely states that 1353 is in Charleston and that O'Sullivan is a member. It may have been confused with the fact that he lived in Parkersburg while an administrator of the training center, while still a member of 1353 in Charleston. So there is no need to remove it or reference is elsewhere, the cite is correct, just the article states the wrong city. It's a good article though, good job.
