Are we going to start adding everyone's favorite test pilot? I think we need to keep this to notable and indisputable ones. We do not need this to become a "List of test pilots." —Joseph/N328KF (Talk) 15:54, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have a few quibbles. 1) I believe the graph that describes test pilots as working for the military or private companies should be changed to government agencies, the military or private companies. NASA and the FAA have test pilots. 2) The list of test pilots should be ordered in some way. Alphabetical, chronological, height... 3) Yeager's entry should probably say "credited" instead of "known" and I would add "in level flight" — Tthackrey (talk) 15:30, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sawyer question[edit]

Anyone ever hear of a test pilot killed at Coronado, California, ca. 1946 named Sawyer -- possibly first named Alfred? (anonymous question moved from article). TraceyR 08:03, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Useful sites[edit]

There's a useful site listing a number of test pilots of all nations with short bios of some of them here: Test & Research Pilots, Flight Test Engineers

And for anyone interested in test pilot fatalities there's a fairly comprehensive list of UK ones (with crash details) here: Test Flying Memorial Project —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.40.250.40 (talk) 19:15, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hal Jordan[edit]

The fictional Green Lantern is listed in the notable pilots section. Yes, he is a test pilot before he gets his powers, but should fictional people be included here? 2602:304:CE3E:5290:81B2:97EF:9E19:C13D (talk) 04:21, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Qualifications[edit]

There doesn't seem to be a reference for this section. I'm sure we all agree on the skills but a reference would be good in line with Wikipedia's policy. Flanker235 (talk) 11:35, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

List of notable test pilots reverted[edit]

I added a number of notable test pilots, many of whom either flew notable types or were notable for other reasons, such as their later careers. Since all of the people I added have their own Wikipedia pages, I suggest this alone is good reason. I understand that this was never intended to be a complete list but that said, there's a better spread of verifiable good information in the linked articles, while the list of qualifications remains unreferenced. List of test pilots[edit]

The article currently has a short list of particularly notable test pilots (as opposed to merely notable enough to have a Wikipedia article). For all test pilots, we have a test pilots category. But should we also have a List of test pilots? cagliost (talk) 10:15, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
