Length of Article[edit]

This article has been flaged for its excessive length, please limit the amount of information and duplicate info on each section. For example the intro includes information about DKR that should be under facilities, and the record book has the same records in mulitple places, including the rivalry records that are already in the rivarly section. In addition be on the lookout for info that would be better served on other pages and keep things in a historic POV, for example Records Under Mack Brown should go under Mack Brown's Wiki page not the Texas Football page. tkalmus

"Longhorns under Mack Brown"[edit]

Why does this page contain a section for "Longhorns under Mack Brown"? Reeks of WP:RECENTISM to me.↔NMajdantalk 12:41, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • I understand your concern, but have to disagree somewhat. It still needs information added for the previous eras in the team's history, but that shouldn't preclude information on the last ten years of Texas football. It would probably be best to do away with the individual year sections and combined into a single section on the Mack Brown era. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football is a very good example for other articles of this type to follow. Strikehold (talk) 13:17, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have attempted to summarize the histories and Longhorns under Mack to make the page more user friendly let me know what you think.

Dead links[edit]

Added a cleanup tag onto the article, all of the mackbrownfootball.com refs are dead. -Falcon8765 (talk) 02:35, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Errors in coaching records[edit]

Your coaching records need a lot of work to make sure they are right.

I have changed 3 of them, but do not care enough about Longhorns football to change them all.

  • First, learn the way to properly edit a talk page. Secondly, and most importantly, learn how to sign your posts, as you're reminded to do above the edit box. Finally, I appreciate that you helped to straighten up some of the coaching errors, and that you have brought them to our attention to verify. I see that you made your edits anonymously, without having been logged in, but I was able to track down your edits. Perhaps, next time, it would be easier for us to track them down if you log-in before making edits, so the history indicates who made the edit, and not merely from which IP the edit was made? Also, I have submitted this article for reassessment.

"Modern era"[edit]

I am removing the two lines recently added to the article relating to the use of "modern era" as a term in college football. If you would like to see my reasoning, read here. DTXBrian (talk) 20:10, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bowl Games[edit]

Is there any consensus as to whether we should have all of Texas's bowl games listed on the page? I know that Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football has theirs in a hidden table, and Texas A&M has theirs in a visible table. The only reason I even noticed that it wasn't here was because I came looking for it and was surprised that there was a section and no data. I also looked through the history of revisions, and couldn't find a time in the past few weeks when a table existed. I can add it later today, but if someone else would like to add it today, be my guest. Should it be hidden, due to its length as well? If someone can find one in the revisions and bring it back, that's also great. Opinions welcomed. Letoofdune (talk) 20:19, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, so I'm going to throw in the bowl games this afternoon in a hidden table. If someone decides that they want to create an article like this one for Virginia Tech, that's fine, but for now, the bowl games need to be mentioned in the article.Letoofdune (talk) 22:02, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Mack Brown era errors"[edit]

Specifically for 2008 season Note page is still vandalized: see (cur | prev) 22:04, 7 May 2010 72.198.206.182 (talk) (99,902 bytes) (undo) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.132.251.39 (talk)

Nav box standardization[edit]

The rigid standardization of football team nav box templates is being discussed at College football Wikiproject. Editors pursuing this standardization have already significantly altered the Texas football navbox, and you may wish to review these changes add your input. Unclaimed national titles[edit]

Is there any reason to list the unclaimed national titles? Why not just list the claimed national titles by the school? If anyone has any reason to list unclaimed national titles I'm all ears. Sullivan9211 (talk) 18:34, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sure this has already been addressed in a more general forum, but the answer is "of course." Schools vary widely in their practices for claiming different types of national titles. Texas is one of the schools that only claims titles based on being voted No. 1 in the final AP or Coaches Polls. Other schools officially recognize a wide array of titles based on the pronouncements of far less well-known "selectors." One's knowledge of how many seasons at a given school have resulted in championship selections shouldn't merely depend on that school's decisions regarding recognition. Why is 2009 listed when they clearly lost the BCS championship to Alabama? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2606:A000:1100:67F:207D:322A:95B:849F (talk) 05:29, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Texas Longhorn Series Records[edit]

Some editors are trying to get the Texas Longhorns football series records article deleted. I have tried to update it and add some content to it to alleviate their worries, but the pro-delete crowd seems to view it as non-encyclopedia worthy stats. Input from editors who work on the Longhorns football history would be appreciated. I think the info is valuable, but I would prefer the discussion to involve people who are working on Texas Longhorns data. Shatterdaymorn (talk) 07:56, 2 June 2016 (UTC).[reply]

1916 title[edit]

I have added an inline dispute tag to the 1916 title claim. This source states it is not recognized. Further research appreciated. UW Dawgs (talk) 04:06, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
