GA review (see here for criteria)

  1. It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose): b (MoS):
    • You use "rural area" too much in the route description. I think it is repetitive to keep mentioning rural areas unless there is a change from something else. Also, the use throughout the route description is gramatically incorrect and should be "rural areas".
    • Reduced usage
    • "After crossing the Neches River, RE 255 enters Jasper County as a two-lane, paved road and proceeds eastward.", I feel it is redundant to mention RE 255 is a two-lane, paved road here since that is implied from the previous section.
    • Removed
    • You use eastward, southeastward, etc. a lot in the route description. Try varying the wording.
    • Added alternative words
    • The sentence "The roadway bends northward and passes the small community of Beans, traveling past several small farms and houses and intersecting several county roads, including the former RE 255 Spur, now CR 1002." is long and needs to be split.
    • The sentences "The Sam Rayburn Dam ends, and the highway reenters rural area, exiting Angelina National Forest and continuing, taking a large bend southeast, intersecting several local roads that lead to the reservoir." and "The highway proceeds southeast, passing several small homes and businesses that make up a portion of the community of Sam Rayburn, traveling northeastward for a short distance before bending eastward through Rayburn Country, intersecting FM 1007, and passing several additional houses and businesses." also need to be redone.
    • Fixed
    • The sentence "RE 255 bends southeast, proceeding in that direction, before intersecting U.S. Route 96." sounds awkward.
    • Reworded
    • "RE 255 enters Newton County as a two lane, paved, undivided road, traveling eastward through rural area.", again, it seems unnecessary to describe the width and pavement of the road since it should be implied for earlier.
    • Removed
    • The sentence "The highway proceeds eastward, before bending northeastward and passing a few small roads, continuing in that direction and entering rural forest." needs to be reworded.
    • Reworded
    • In the Newton County section, you begin two consecutive sentences with "Continuing eastward".
    • There is a lot of repetitive wording in the Traffic section.
    • The sentence "FM 255 was again extended on June 15, 1961, traveling along the McGee Bend Dam to US 96, adding approximately 8.3 miles (13.4 km) to the route." sounds awkward.
    • The sentence "In 1977, the of the route's current bridges were constructed." reads awkward. Is the first "the" supposed to be "three"?
    • Yes, it is. I fixed this.
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
The National Bridge Inventory references should not be hardcoded and should use a template.
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
    • Do you need to keep mentioning that the road intersects county roads?
    • Majorly reduced usage.
    • "Twelve years after being cancelled, FM 255 was redesignated to a short road in southwest Texas", where in southwest Texas was this road?
    • Added
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
I do not get how some of the images are relevant, they do not show the road.
    • I have replaced one of the images with a better one. - Awardgive, the editor with the msitaken name. 22:46, 13 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • More relevant but I think it would be nicer if there were images showing the road in close detail at ground level, rather than another subject being the primary focus and the road just being a secondary part of the image. Dough4872 22:53, 13 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:

I will put the article on hold for fixes to be made. Dough4872 01:49, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have addressed the above comments. - Awardgive, the editor with the msitaken name. 23:16, 25 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Before I can pass the article, I have additional concerns:

  1. "It proceeds through a small community and turns northeasterly.", what is the name of this community?
  • Added
  1. The sentence "The roadway proceeds, bending east and passing the McGee Cemetery." needs to be reworded.
  • Reworded
  1. The verb "bends" is overused in the route description.
  • Added alternate wordings
  1. "Highest traveled point" and "lowest traveled point" are used too much in the Traffic section. Try varying the wording.
  • Varied wording
  1. " FM 255 was extended on June 15, 1961 to a road that traveled along the McGee Bend Dam to an intersection with US 96.", which one was it extended to? The wording needs to be made clearer here. Dough4872 00:05, 26 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Status check—what is the status of this review? Imzadi 1979  21:52, 4 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Waiting for Awardgive to reply to my additional concerns. Dough4872 02:20, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Beginning to fix the issues. Sorry about that, though. I was in the middle of nowhere for the past few days, and had no internet access and nothing to access it with anyways. I'm trying to work on this, but I've gotten about ten hours of sleep this whole week, so I am dead tired. - Awardgive, the editor with the msitaken name. 06:31, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I believe I have addressed all comments. - Awardgive, the editor with the msitaken name. 01:06, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I will now pass the article. Dough4872 01:53, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
