Two sections[edit]

There are two things incorrect with the current revision. The length listed is only for the Southern segment of this route. The northern toll road is mostly open (from SH 130 to RR 620).

Also, the termini are not fully correct, as mentioned above. Two completely separate pieces of this roadway are open. Kraft 15:20, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I added both set of termini to the page. I couldn't find any style rules that matched with this situation. I'm looking for a reference source for the open sections of the north tollway in order to correct length.Kraft 15:35, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I realized that after I made the change, the northern section doesn't show up on any of the maps, at least Mapquest and Google. I was trying to find the actual mileage of the northern section that is open. There is a similar situation in the San Antonio area, SH 211 has two seperate sections, but the article for it doesn't exist yet, so it hasn't been addressed. Hmm, I may need to make an adjustment to the infobox. --Holderca1 15:37, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The turnaround time, I believe, for a the data set for Google Maps and Mapquest is a few months from when the data provider has the new information (they use the same source usually). Since the northern section opened this week and how seperated the sections are, it is very understandable to have a good amount of confusion. These two segments are the full length of Loop 1 apart- 22 miles! --Kraft 15:56, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, they could of put it on there months ago as a future highway or something, it's not like a highway is something that can be built in a few days. Just out of curiousity, do you know why they gave this highway a state highway designation rather than a loop designation. The strange thing is, the ultimate plan for 45 is a loop around the city, while Loop 1 isn't, they could almost just switch the two, although that would just lead to mass confusion. --Holderca1 15:59, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, this is interesting, 1, 45, and 130 all show up on Mapquest when you are zoomed out, but when you zoom in, they disappear.--Holderca1 16:17, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What zoom level? They aren't showing up for me. Good call about a future highway- has Mapquest/Google done that for other roadways? Regarding the SH vs LP designation. Darn good question. I thought that was odd too. TX is weird with "Loop" designations. In most cases, a Loop is a roadway that connects two other system roadways together, circular or not. In this case, Lp 1 connected, more or less, 183 SB to 290 without having to go out to east Austin or 35. Weird. I really have no idea why 45 is not a "loop". --Kraft 19:44, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
They show up on mapquest at zoom levels 4-6,it shows SH 130 from US 183 to I-35 in Georgetown, and SH 45 and the SL 1 extension, all shown in green. Green is mapquests designation for a toll road. --Holderca1 14:53, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Missing sections on map?[edit]

The map in the infobox shows three highlighted sections:

The northern sections appear to be chosen by characteristics of their frontage roads, and indeed they highlight the frontage roads rather than the through lanes.

This omits four more sections given in the article's text:

  • from Turkey Hollow to Loop 1, including the section marked as "TX 45 Frontage Road";
  • east to and along Wilke Lane, to SH 130;
  • the section shared with SH 130, south to US 183;
  • and the southeast section, west from there to I-35.

It might make sense to skip the shared section, but I think it's important to show the southeast section, and the north section in full.

More precisely, the map seems to depict relations 1 959 894 and 9 822 281, the free lanes and southwest toll lanes respectively, but not relation 80 234, the toll lanes of the other sections. All three of these claim wikidata id Q2503725 and this same Wikipedia article, Texas State Highway 45.

(Curiously, the list of Texas state route relations is instead missing relation 9 822 281. Perhaps it wants to see it merged into relation 80 234 with the rest of the toll lanes?)

There are also a handful of "way" segments like way 626 277 665 and way 962 493 229, that are connected to SH 45 but aren't in any of its relations. I'm not up on when to include ramps and frontage roads, so that's secondary to the main topic. Octavo (talk) 21:24, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have changed the map to use data from all three SH 45 relations. It should now be correct. Areas for potential improvement include:

  • Draw the route in red, as before - for some reason the updated map draws in black despite the stroke-color
  • Draw differently the section shared with SH 130
