Gavroche[edit]
The article mentions that in the book Gavroche is the son of the Thénardiers, but does not mention that he (apparently) is unrelated in the musical. I can't add this myself, as (a) it is something I don't know for sure, but noticed while watching the concert version of the musical and (b) if correct, it's original research. Does anyone know where we can confirm this in an existing source? I assume it's correct given that in the musical, Gavroche appears to be a child though Eponine is now grown. Working class?[edit]
Aren't they innkeepers? i.e in possession of an Inn?
In the 2000 movie version (with Liam Neeson as Valjean), a new bit of dialog makes Thenardier even more evil. Thenardier appears only for the scene at the inn, and does not appear again. When Valjean gives Cosette the doll, Thenardier asks him, in a subdued voice and very suggestively, "Would monsieur like the child to play in his lap? Would monsieur like to rent a private room?" A sharp distinction from the near comic-relief quality the character serves in the opera.Sussmanbern (talk) 05:17, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
