  • Background and recording
  1. "Carey and her husband and Sony CEO Tommy Mottola separated in 1997." Doesn't flow, re-write. "Carey and her husband, Tommy Mottola, who was a Sony CEO, separated in 1997"
  2. "Carey and her husband and Sony CEO Tommy Mottola separated in 1997. This resulted in a strained relationship with Sony. By the spring of 1999, Carey had begun work on her last album of her contract with Columbia Records, titled Rainbow. Her relationship with Sony had affected her collaboration with writing partner Walter Afanasieff, who had worked with her throughout the first half of her career.[2]" WP:OR Find other/more sources, I can't view that source.
  3. "As a result, she worked extensively with many other songwriters and producers for the album, including the duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, known for their work with Janet Jackson. "Thank God I Found You" was written by Jam and Lewis and co-written by Carey. When Jam and Lewis first started working with Carey, they did not have a definite idea of what Carey expected from them.[3] In an interview with Fred Bronson, Jam and Lewis explained:

"It wasn't like Janet [Jackson], where we all grew up together. Mariah had done her own thing and had been very involved with the arranging and production of her records, so we respected that and said, 'What can we do for you?' She'd get on a plane and fly to whatever was the next thing she was doing."[3] One night, Jam and Lewis received a call from Carey's assistant telling them that Carey had an idea for a song. Normally when Carey was composing songs, James "Big Jim" Wright would play the chords.[3] He was not present at the studio that night, so Lewis played the chords for Carey. After composing the melody, Carey recorded her vocals. When Carey requested male singers to sing along with her on the track, Jam and Lewis recruited R&B singer Joe.[3] Although Jam and Lewis wanted to feature K-Ci & JoJo on the song, they dropped the idea because they are signed to a different record label.[3]" WP:OR "..." That's a lot of info for me not to be able to verify. Block quotes don't need quotation marks.

  1. "was produced by Jam and Lewis, and co-produced by Carey" ? → "was co-produced by Carey, Jam and Lewis". Include Jam and Lewis' full names here.
  2. Remove the [3] source near the end of the paragraph, [13] by itself will suffice.
Number one is done. As for number two, I think the source should stay as it is a very important information.

  1. You've written "mostly negative reviews", but you have included 7 positive and 5 negative. I think you should re-write to say "received mixed reviews". Amend this in the Lead as well.

  • Chart Performance
  1. When was it certified Gold? If it is after Feb 2001, as that is when you say it had sold over 700,000, move the certification to after 'Feb 2001'.
  2. "In Australia, it entered the Australian Singles Chart at its peak of number twenty-seven, on the week dated March 12, 2000.[50] The next week it dropped to number forty-seven.[50] In New Zealand, it debuted on the singles chart at a position of number thirty-four, the week dated April 2, 2000.[51] The song went down to number thirty-five next week, before dropping to number forty-four.[51] In Europe, "Thank God I Found You" charted in a few countries. In the United Kingdom, "Thank God I Found You" debuted and peaked at number ten on the UK Singles Chart on the week dated March 11, 2000.[52][53] The single stayed on the chart for ten weeks, including one re-entry at number seventy-one on the week dated May 20, 2000.[53] In the Flanders region of Belgium, the song debuted at number forty-seven and peaked at thirty-six.[54] In the Wallonia region, it debuted at number thirty-five and peaked at number twenty-three three weeks after its debut.[55] In France, the single entered the singles chart at number thirty-one, the week dated March 4, 2000.[56] The next week it ascended to its peak of number twenty-eight.[56] It stayed on the chart for fifteen weeks.[56] In Netherlands, "Thank God I Found You" entered the Single Top 100 at number fifty-five, before peaking at number twenty-three the next week.[57] "Thank God I Found You" peaked at number twenty-eight in Germany,[58] forty-three in Sweden,[59] thirty-one in Ireland,[60] and at number seventeen in Switzerland.[61]" You write "Thank God I Found You" (underlined above) twice too close together near the start and the same again near the end, using "the single " in the middle. Try not to repeat yourself too close together, whenever you write "Thank God I Found You", use "the song" next, then "the single", then go back to "Thank God I Found You" to avoid being repetitive. It makes it less tiresome to keep on reading "Thank God I Found You".
  3. Remove the picture of Joe, fails rationale. Description and picture bare no relation to the article. What is he performing? No mention of him (presumably) performing the song in the live performance section.

  2. It's quite a small section. Could the description (with sources) not be expanded more? Are there anymore reviews of the video? What about the remix video, can you find any more info about the description and reviews about that one?

  1. "Later on in the show, she was honored with the "Award of Achievement".[71]" Award of achievement for what? What does it represent?
  2. "Carey performed the song on several several European programs including Top of the Pops and Friday Night's All Wright in the United Kingdom, NRJ and Soulier d'Or in France, Wetten, dass..? in Germany and Quelli che... il Calcio in Italy.[68]" WP:OR Find individual website sources for these performances on the web and remove the author source once done.
  3. "Aside from the several televised and the award show performance, Carey included the song on the set-list of her concert tours, starting with the Rainbow World Tour. During the tour, Trey Lorenz, her only male background singer, replaced Joe as the song's main male vocalist.[72] At the show at Madison Square Garden on April 11, 2000, Carey wore a long orange cocktail gown with a long cascading neck line. As I've said before, I can't check any of this with those authored sources which don't lead me to the source.
  4. Video still: I don't think this meets rationale. It's just Mariah standing on stage. Date for TAOM tour? Caption is not detailed enough, click here.

You don't need to remove TOTPs or Wetten...dass? etc., but find a few website sources to limit the dependency of those book sources, so readers can easily access the info if they want to. (I often like to read about the live performances). Calvin • 999 17:06, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm in a predicament as to whether or not I should put this article on hold or fail it. It's not as bad as the Anytime You Need a Friend article, and considering this was a co-nomination, you should both be able to easily sort out the problems listed above over the next 7 days. Calvin, in no offense, I notice you really don't quite understand several rules for GA articles, and are failing without proper grounds. Most of the things written here are not problematic. Free images are as described, free. They don't need rationals or any such thing. Also, just because a source is not readily available for you to read does NOT make it unusable. Go to a library and look at the book, so pay for the article on line. Its as simple as that. And Nothing here is original research. Please read and understand what that means.
