This isn't "one of the most difficult RPGs," especially if you've played the Dragon Warrior series.

As someone who has played it over 3 times, I can say this is one of the hardest games ever created, Dragon Warrior has a good deal of difficulty to it, but you simply can't compare the old Final Fantasy gmaes or Super Mario to this game in terms of difficulty. I'd certainly not say its difficulty was on the same level with Wizardry IV or even Final Fantasy 3j. I think that part should be amended, probably restricting it to the hardest Super Famicom/SNES title. I think there would be fewer arguments about that assertion. I think this game is very difficult. Getting to the end without stopping several times to level up is virtually a non-starter. And even if leveled up, you're still away a few hits from certain death. Dragonlord kfb 06:22, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete Synopsis?[edit]

I haven't played this game in years and I was really young when I did so I don't remember much. There was one plot point though, that resonated within me in a vague sort of way. Early in the game, you encountered a city that had been destroyed a long time ago. Later in the game, after you've time traveled, you go back to that city and play a part in its destruction. I don't remember what the name of that town was or anything like that but I kind of feel like it should be a part of the plot synopsis here. Can someone who remembers that plot point better incorporate it into the synopsis or is it too insignificant to the overall plot? (Wish I could remember better...) Quick correction[edit]

I really enjoyed this article and the pictures that went with it. Thanks to all who supplied fuel for 7th Saga nostalgia!

That being said, only one inaccuracy stands out to me: that Wilme is referred to as an Ogre in the Japanese translation. In fact, in the Japanese version "Elnard," Wilme is also referred to as an "Alien." At the character select screen it's in Katakana, while in the intro to the game where the characters are being summoned by Lemele, it's in English... so I'm gonna nix that little part on his bio. Oh, I also noticed that "alien" redirected to "extracurricular life form," and since I don't think tennis rackets and golf balls come to life when we're not looking, I switched it to "extraterrestrial." :D Wallbridge 01:01, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Traitor[edit]

I think it would be worth mentioning that neither Lux nor Esuna are selected to be the traitor, I don't know if this is a bug, an oversight, or an act of mercy. --71.114.149.111 21:58, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Changes from Japanese version[edit]

I had heard here and there that the US release was made harder than Elnard - one fellow went so far to offer an edit to "fix" the game to how it was originally intended. He asserted that enemies were made harder, stat gains when you level up were lowered, and battles against the other apprentices are supposed to be on a much more even playing ground.

So I did a superficial test with the two games, leveling up Mr.Dwarf once. While most of the stats increased within a range the engine allows (+ or - 1), his HP in Elnard went up 8, as opposed to the 5 he received in the US version. Also noticed that Lejes's color palette is almost completely grey in Elnard. -- 12.175.230.37 21:35, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The difficulty level is due to a bug in Enix's localization where *all* enemies get leveled up at the same time as the main player character. iirc, the intended effect was (only) apprentice enemies get leveled. Reset by peer (talk) 21:38, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Valsu's Age[edit]

A bit of a nitpick, but looking at some of the things from the Japanese source, I believe Valsu was actually quite young? In his mid-to-late twenties or early thirties, perhaps? All I have besides the two pieces of fanart I've found ever is this, which I believe is from an artbook of some kind?
