Schedule

CBS' recent press release only presents its fall lineup. There's no indication if TAR14 will be picked up for winter/spring 2009 yet. --Madchester (talk) 16:44, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

filming dates

Hey people. Uh, apparently there's a source (as shown on the page itself) to back up the fact that TAR14 will be filmed in November 2008? Then shouldn't the statement that "filming took place mid-August to mid-October" be removed since it seems outdated and contradictory to the more latest source? DanielTAR (talk) 07:40, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

I'd be WP:BOLD and change it. Sam Blab 12:33, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

When will it air?

When will it air? Badagnani (talk) 02:25, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

It's not known yet. Sam Blab 02:26, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

well feb 15 2009 is the date and its at 8pm on sunday nites. 72.137.92.174 (talk) 15:08, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

The infobox is already "well-design" to hide some details that not aired/announced, thus is that necessary to add TB"Announced"? sometimes CBS didn't do that. --Aleenf1 06:20, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
Well, in my personal opinion, if it says Season Run, that it should be from X to Y as having just X kinda doesn't fit the field "Season RUN". But it really is a trivial issue and I don't think it's that big a deal. I'm neutral on this. DanielTAR (talk) 15:08, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, Wikipedia is not a guidebook without good references. --Aleenf1 07:04, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Huh? DanielTAR (talk) 09:24, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

unless you people don't know how to read it clearly states at the top that it will air Feb 15, 2009 at 8pm EST —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.226.241.84 (talk) 14:43, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Yes, we already know that. We are discussing whether or not a TBA should be added to the "Finale Date" so that the "season-run" field will make more sense since RUN denotes a period of time and having just one date there seems to be unfitting of the field. DanielTAR (talk) 05:59, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Photo

Sorry, it is not mention in WP:RS that photo can be a burden evidence EXCEPT you know about the date of that magazine published. --Aleenf1 08:01, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

DanielTAR, the word "justification" is not useful to mean you are totally right. Is all about reliable sources, is a policy. If you think you are right, please submit your reliable sources. --Aleenf1 10:49, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

New fonts and icon.

I noticed that this season uses new fonts for the team names and the route markers. I know they originally used Eurostile, but now they use one similar to Bank Gothic, but I'm not sure.

They also seem to use new icons. So far, they used the lowercase i (i) for the Route Info and this symbol (>|) for the Roadblock. But of course, we should use the old ones for consistency, right? - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 02:55, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Yes. The Bank Gothic font has been changed at the start of the season. In TAR Brazil, the font used Arial. Just change it away. ApprenticeFan (talk) 03:24, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
On a related note, anyone have a screen cap of the new title graphic? Updating that would be great for context. Radagast (talk) 04:19, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
Yes. The screen cap has changed. See YouTube clip. ApprenticeFan (talk) 04:29, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
So Bank Gothic is now used in the show, right? - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 05:03, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
At worst, when CBS puts this up on their website by tomorrow, we can get a grab there. --MASEM 05:05, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
Yes. The Eurostile font has been retired after 13 seasons. ApprenticeFan (talk) 05:14, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Race Map???

Italy should be colored in, as some teams chose to travel though Milan, Italy, as others did Germany. No roadblocks, or detours were performed in either country. If Germany is colored, so should Italy.--Subman758 (talk) 03:25, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

  • Every coloured-in country will field tasks at some poin tin the race per CBS sources. Germany will do so next week, I understand; Italy is only a travel destination for this season. Radagast (talk) 03:48, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Continents

Shouldn't there be only 3 continents visited?

USA belongs to North America. Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Romania and Russia are part of Europe. India, Thailand and People's Republic of China are part of Asia.

So there should only be three continents, not four.LordBelly06 (talk) 06:12, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Hawaii is belong to USA, so it is not part of Oceania. --Aleenf1 08:05, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Season 15??

So i was wondering does anyone happen to know when the tryouts for season 15 will be? You know the deadline to recieve the audition tapes? :0) thanks for everyone's help!!!!

Relationships/Team Names

Hey everyone, I'm pretty new, so this may seem strange, but can we make the relationships more consistent with the past seasons? It seems unlikely that the actual show is going to have those exact words as relationships in the subtitles.

Some other changes sound better as well (and they aren't just made up):

  • Insead of "Former NFL Cheerleaders", we put just "Cheerleaders", like Season 10's Kellie & Jamie.
  • Instead of "Jennifer & Preston", put "Preston & Jennifer", which sounds and looks better. Remember "Jennifer & Nathan" on the site for Season 12?
  • Instead of "Siblings/Lawyers", put "Sister/Brother", since most past seasons don't address careers in the official relationships even if the careers are interesting or unique (and "Siblings" has never been used before, so it's strange to think it will happen this time).
  • Instead of "Flight Attendants", we put "Friends" or "Friends/Flight Attendants", since just "Flight Attendants" is not an actual relationship.

Just an idea I think will make the table better - feel free to discuss. Hooky6 (talk) 05:19, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

I don't see why this should be discuss. All the names, how it line-up, and the relationship are took from TV itself. Don't see any changes require. --Aleenf1 05:44, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
If CBS is placing emphasis on a professional relationship to describe a team, then that's what we use per WP:RS. --Madchester (talk) 05:51, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

The way it appears now is the way they are credited on the show and is how they should remain on the article. KuyaBriBriTalk 20:17, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

And in terms of "Preston and Jennifer" 'sounding and looking better' than "Jennifer and Preston", that's all a matter of opinion, which we can't base our information on.Stjimmy61892 (talk) 00:10, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Gorilla? Gorilla?? Gorilla???

it was not victor who really said that. everybody is actually yelling/asking gorilla?gorilla?? 121.1.18.241 (talk) 16:56, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

As I recall, everybody combined said it. --A More Perfect Onion (talk) 17:03, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Actually, if you listen to when Victor starts saying it, it's specifically shown 3 times him saying the word Gorilla, and nothing else(In a short period of time), thus the title. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.17.99.175 (talk) 02:34, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Unaired Fast Forward on Leg 7

There appears to be an edit war over an unaired Fast Forward in Leg 7. The TAR 12 page shows that there is an unaired FF in Leg 5 and reflected it in the Results table, but that page cites a post-race interview. If you are going to re-post the existence of an un-aired FF, please cite. KuyaBriBriTalk 17:07, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Pretty much. The results table should be information that can be either clear from the episode (a green envelop in racers hands does not necessarily confirm a FF) or from sources afterwards. --MASEM (t) 17:11, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks SamK1994 (talk · contribs) for adding a reference to this unaired FF. KuyaBriBriTalk 16:05, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

How come they don't show fast forwards in some cases? Don't the teams wanna use? Seems in most cases the fast forward is snapped up, did CBS explain why? Maybe the task was an eating one lol —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.17.99.175 (talk) 19:50, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

If no teams attempted this, or any, Fast Forward, then the show wasn't going to waste time explaining it to the viewers. Instead, they just edited it out completely and showed us more of the other stuff. --Mtjaws (talk) 22:05, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

I just added the annotation back to the result table after 58.8.118.75 had removed it. Should the "UnairedFF" cite be added to the results table too? 192.31.106.35 (talk) 21:30, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Probably best you just keep as is, if people remove again just fix and fix and fix until they get bored of vandalizing.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.17.99.175 (talk) 16:02, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Unaired task on Leg 9

Someone has been adding an uncited reference to an unaired task in Guilin at the Folded Brocade Mountains. Please do not re-add this unless it is cited in the same way we cited the unaired FF on Leg 7. A post-Race interview with Mark & Michael or any subsequent eliminated team that explicitly states the existence of an unaired task at that location should suffice. KuyaBriBriTalk 13:46, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

I agree with waiting on better sourcing, though I will point out that the location does appear to be valid based on race spoilers at RealityFanForum, but that's not legit enough to use as a source. --MASEM (t) 13:47, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
There are no actual sources at this point, the miscellaneous task of this leg has five of twenty-four photos retrieved from CBS website. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ApprenticeFan talk contribs 14:06, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
I'd like a source to confirm that they were there, the task itself is obvious (the Drums of Life are an attraction there, so we can speculate they had to do the ritual themselves). --MASEM (t) 14:18, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Thanks Masem (talk · contribs) for providing a source of unaired miscellaneous task. ApprenticeFan talk contribs 02:53, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

leg 9 travels

why was the reference to "via Guangzhou, China" removed in leg 9? 67.49.116.255 (talk) 07:07, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

since there was no response, i put the reference back in with a citation, in case there was any doubt 67.49.116.255 (talk) 15:45, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Guangzhou was just a mandatory flight destination (to equalize the teams); there weren't any clue markers or tasks there... so we didn't include it in the Race Summary. We only include locations that fielded clue markers, tasks, or challenges in the section. --Madchester (talk) 01:01, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Pretty much agreed, it wasn't an important place in the race either, it was one of few stops to get what essentially was their first clues to get the race moving. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.15.1.234 (talkcontribs) 22 April 2009

Leg 7: Was there an unaired Roadblock?

Just because I'm paranoid about it, was there a Roadblock at all during Leg 7? Just seems odd they would skip a Roadblock point in the middle of a race, and in a leg with a Fast Forward. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Playsfair234 (talkcontribs) 05:32, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Ratings tables

With two tables for US and Canada ratings, wouldn't it be easier, and less repetitive, to combine the two tables into one? We can add the two columns of Canada ratings to the right end of the US table, label each half properly, and reduce the space the two tables currently occupy. I'm not entirely sure if ratings belong on here anyway, but that's a different issue. Any thoughts on keeping separate or combining? --Mtjaws (talk) 16:37, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

The American ratings table goes into more detail than the Canadian, if you were to keep both but combine itd make the page bigger to say the least.. As for the ratings, some other shows on wiki have ratings listed somewhere.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.15.1.234 (talk) 17:07, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

I Think Canadian Table Is Not Necessary, Because The Show Is Aired In A Lot Of Countries In The World, If So, We Have To Add A Lot Of Tables Gonzalochileno (talk) 22:08, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Conflict of Interest

I noticed people have editted the page to include the title of the second China leg as episode 11, since the results table is counting this show as having 11 episodes, how are we going to put a title for the final leg?(USA) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.15.1.234 (talkcontribs)

Here's the nuance that people are missing: The race has 11 legs over 12 episodes. We can have 12 episode titles even though the results table has 11 columns. Esjs (talk) 22:58, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
If anyone noticed on Note 4 that leg 10 is shown over two episodes, Esjs is right, people are missing the fact that there is 11 legs over 12 episodes because leg 10 is a double-length leg, thus being showed over two episodes. The Results table does not show how many episodes are being aired, it shows how many legs are in this race, that's why Note 4 is included in the Results table to avoid the confusion of this happening. Secondly, the episode title quote that's being attempted to be replaced might be a title quote for Canada airing in which case needs a reference, but it does not show that on CBS.com (reference 10 in the TAR14 Wiki Article), Reference 10 from the article shows that "He made me look like Alice Cooper" as the next episode (episode 11), and "This is how you lose a million dollars" as the final episode (episode 12). They should be kept with those title quotes, especially since they come from the site that produces the show.Playsfair234 (talk) 18:02, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Episode 11 Title (2nd Part of Beijing China)

"He made me look like Alice Cooper" was changed by CBS to "No More Mr. Nice Guy". Do we list both? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.106.222.101 (talk) 04:40, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

I would list both, considering its still in Reference #10 as "He made me look like Alice Cooper" on the CBS.com primetime guide. Even though it says "No More Mr. Nice Guy" on the CBS.com TAR14 front page. I would keep both on until the recap page appears on TAR14 CBS page that will have the title written on it. Unless it changes on the primetime guide (Ref 10) before then. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Playsfair234 (talkcontribs) 17:04, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
I agree, the official site will probably have the real title after airing. And interestingly enough, "No More Mr. Nice Guy" is an Alice Cooper song. Maybe both quotes will be heard. --Mtjaws (talk) 18:32, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
My DVR listed the episode as "He made me look like Alice Cooper." Esjs (talk) 03:03, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
CBS.com has it down in the recap as "No More Mr. Nice Guy," They changed it and I believe it will stay that way, it just was not changed in any other TV guides.Playsfair234 (talk) 03:49, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

What name should I use for "Niao Chao", the actual words or "Beijing National Stadium"? WadeSimMiser (talk) 00:51, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

If wikipedia has an article on Niao Chao couldnt someone link that to the word? I'm not sure if that's done automatically, but it makes more sense instead of dumbing the word down, and would give reference to what was actually said on the episode.

On the leg summary, it should be Niao Chao because it was said that way when it was aired in the clue. The show did say it was better known for that name so...:/. If anything I would put it in single brackets "[]"to tell the US people so that they would understand where they actually went.

Number of legs - based on last RB...

I think we need to consider that the double-length leg was considered to be two separate legs with no Pit Stop between. The last RB claims there were 11 legs before the last leg (10 if you consider the Beijing double-leg to be a single one). Plus we have this CBS pre-race map that gives the 11th Pit Stop in Beijing (a second one). It would be nice to see better confirmation on this before changing. --MASEM (t) 04:08, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me but the map only shows up to the number 11 + 2 stars showing start and ending points.. Either way I can't make a judgement, im not a member here lol —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.16.9.241 (talk) 04:33, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

They called it 11 legs, but it is still 10 legs. The double-length leg is considered one leg even though the Roadblock made it said to be 11 legs. The double-length leg is two legs combined into one actual leg. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Playsfair234 (talkcontribs) 06:37, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
The final RB did not explicitly say that the numbers 1-11 corresponded to a Leg number. 11 could have merely meant that it was 11th in the chronological order of events. It's also possible that this was explained in unaired additional instructions, but that's just speculation on my part. Either way, the double-length Leg 10 should only be considered as one Leg. KuyaBriBriTalk 17:01, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Unaired Detour on final leg.

Although it clearly shows teams did a Detour (with Jaime & Cara holding the Detour clue to the driver telling them to go to Beach 118). I would rather wait for a reference to re-add this part. Also, it seems that the pig task was the actual Detour task, because Jaime & Cara told the driver to go to Beach 118 from the Detour clue. It seems to be just shown as a regular task (like in Season 5), with it not being portrayed as a Detour and other teams simply not choosing the other task. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Playsfair234 (talkcontribs) 12:58, 11 May 2009 UTC

I concur. As with the Fast Forward in Phuket, it's not enough for the clue cover to be shown, a reference is necessary. --A More Perfect Onion (talk) 19:46, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
Not good enough yet to include, but TARcon goers have stated the other task opposite the pig was to learn to surf and do it for 15 seconds (see TWOP's TARcon thread). --MASEM (t) 20:53, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
The Detour has been re-added, as a notation that an alternative existed. I'm tagging the Detour as needing a cite; I recommend leaving the text about the Detour in the article. --A More Perfect Onion (talk) 14:03, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
Agreed, this was much more clear that teams were holding a Detour clue than the Fast Forward on leg 7. The Cheerleaders were basically shoving the Detour clue telling the driver to go to this location.Playsfair234 (talk) 16:43, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
Do we have an official source for the Detour on the final leg? The note was removed and re-added today. --A More Perfect Onion (talk) 20:51, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
