Author Photo[edit]

The author photo is captioned "James Weldon Johnson with the mustache he grew after adopting the white identity." JWJ never adopted a white identity; only the protagonist in the novel does that. I don't know how to edit photo captions or I would change it. "Colored" vs. "Coloured"[edit]

This might seem like a small thing, but it is something worth noting. In the original 1927 edition, the titled was spelled The Autobiography of an Ex-Coloured Man and all references to colored in the text was spelled as such. I was wondering when such a note would go. Narrator was not a Slave[edit]

The narrator of this novel is not a slave to the "Rich White Gentleman." He is hired as personal assistant/companion and musician, and is free to leave when he chooses. (Which he eventually does.) Penis reference[edit]

Someone has definitely edited this to add inappropriate content. "Penis" is not in the title, "Brandon" is not the author, and "Boner" is not a well-known publishing house. Not sure of the corrections to be made, but pretty sure they are needed.
