(anime) tag

This article was moved from Big O (anime) - shouldn't there be a differentiation page? "The Big O" in English conversation has very little to do with robots ... unless the person in question is of HIGHLY questionable moral character... - jay 7 August 2005

Object- The Big Duo article has enough info to be on its own Johhny-turbo 04:22, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

there should be an article created for megadus

megadus the name given to the giant robots in the series is a rare name that i have only attributed to the series and I believe that a page/article should be made aboout it.

Nah, "MegaDeus" is just a combination of the Greek word "Mega" for great, and the Latin word "Deus" for God. (Great God). Zopwx2 00:03, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
If such a page was created It would in all likelyhood be deleted. You may have better luck creating a page that lists all of the Megaduces; on such a page you could give a defintion of megaduce and create individual entrys for all of the shows megaduces. TomStar81 03:46, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

Actually, linking a separate page on Wikipedia to Big O and making the page about The MegaDeus's would be pretty interesting. Things it should include:

  • Name of MegaDeus
  • Background info (if none then leave void)
  • Special equipment
  • User
  • Designated attacks/abilities
  • Cockpit design

This is just a suggestion, but in the event someone does take up the idea, this format wouldn't be a bad sketch for such a section. Good luck on that. -- Team Leader, 2:18 (02:18) AM, August 17th 2006

Actually.. there's been an article, Megadeus, for a while now :D -- Ned Scott 06:23, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Assorted cleaning and reworking

I've done a lot of copy editing, split off a lot of stuff in the second season section that really didn't belong there into new sections on themes, meanings and influences, and added a lot of new stuff here and there. -CWD 04:37, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Characters

I'm ready to go to bat on a characters section. Anybody's welcome to help out if they like, of course. -CWD 04:37, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

First be a little more specific in which you want in the section. Is it opinions from viewers, bio's, or just a list of the characters? -- Team Leader 2:10 (02:10) AM, August 17th 2006

New image

Can anyone offer a better image for the infobox? The fact Roger is holding a tomato will make sense only to fans of the series, anybody who hasn't seen the show will wonder what the heck that's about. Or maybe I'm worrying too much. I tried to explain the tomato thing, anyhow. -CWD 04:46, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

I was thinking a landscape image would look better than a portrait image (like that is used on most infoboxes). I take it that originally it was intended for landscape images to be used, as seen on Template:Infobox animanga#Examples, and a good example on Strawberry Marshmallow. -- Ned Scott 05:44, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Asimov

I have heard that several things in this series makes references to an Isaac Asimov book called caves of steel or something of the like. I am unfamiliar with the novel, but if anyone knows about it, perhaps they can point out some of the inspirations and add them to the article.

Covered city in which people live under domes, and most obviously the prefix "R." for robot in front of robots names. i.e. R. Dorothy.

complete rewrite.

I will be doing a rewrite of this article because of it being completely wrong. The series is not unfinished. The second season answered all the questions in Big O. There's alot of POV and unreferenced stuff in here, and i'll be rewriting it all in the upcoming days. dposse 16:49, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Again, while the article is far from perfect, it's far from being "completely wrong". And yes, they were planning on a third season, and no, not everything was answered in the second season.. -- Ned Scott 08:20, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
Because some fan site says so? dposse 18:20, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
I'm sorry, but I disagree with your logic. Please bring this up for discussion before deleting large portions of the article. -- Ned Scott 18:55, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Merge and Clean-up

I was bold and merged the various articles based on the characters into one page in accordance with style-guideline WP:FICTION. I've also moved relevent bits of the the Paradigm City article to the main page. (If I took out any thing relevent, please fish it out of the page history. I think most of what I removed was basic plot, rehashed from above.)

Secondly, I've tagged this article with various clean-up notes. We need references. For a popular show that aired in the US, I suspect that there should be some criticism somewhere. We could also use some CV/VA information in these articles.

Finally, the red-link farm episode list in the template concerns me. When I have more time, I think that I'll reformat the episode list on the main page and move it to a media and release information page and remove the farm. The two episodes that exist currently are not sourced and contain mostly in-universe style prose. --Kunzite 19:46, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

I've given Roger Smith and R. Dorothy Wayneright back their own articles, since main characters merit their own articles, as per criteria 1 of WP:FICT.--TBCTaLk?!? 05:51, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Untrue statement

"This was despite it being a Japanese work, and having many Christian religious overtones (especially over the terms Behemoth and Leviathan, as well as Big Duo's declaration of "Ye Guilty" with regard to the no longer human Alan Gabriel)."

Christianity is often referenced in Japanese fiction. Japan is not void of christian influence and christian themes in anime are not that uncommon. --Kunzite 22:22, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Speaking of Christianity, I think it's terribly interesting that there's so much of William Blake's influence on the show. Someone should point this out in the article.

Episode articles

Wikipedia:Centralized discussion/Television episodes says that it's far better to not just jump into individual episode creation like what was going on here and at Category:The Big O episodes. First, at least make an episode list, then expand that or make a season/story arch article. I know a lot of people are confused because they see so many individual episode articles, but the point here is not to limit their creation, but to help them grow in a.. more healthy way. Information will be better organized, more editors will be able to see what's going on, and the articles will be less likely to be AfD bait. -- Ned Scott 06:13, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Well, it doesn't exactly say that, and isn't it far better to have some information, even if you believe it to be in an unorderly way, than none at all? And, after all, I haven't seen any of these episode articles up for AFD (apart from Roger the Negotiator - and that was due to copyright). I think we should at least keep them until something better comes along, otherwise it's just a lack of information. Charlie MacKenzie 18:40, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
Not all information should be on Wikipedia. See WP:NOT#Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information part 7. -- Ned Scott 09:52, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

September 11 Note

Why was my edit to the World Trade Center thing reverted? I think the way I wrote it was worded better.--Veemonkamiya 01:18, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

New Character's need added

Hey, I noticed the character list is incomplete. Dan Dastun isn't even mentioned in the article, nor does he have his own page. He is a major character in the series, and I don't understand how he was overlooked. I'm new to Wikipedia, so I'm not sure how to add character's, or make pages yet.

Just thought I'd bring that up.

Recent Vandalization

Some douche at ip 209.158.182.137 keeps vandalizing the article. Admin do something ? :) -CerpinTaxt
