Complete Compact Mozart Edition[edit]

I see in the text: "An altered version of The Complete Mozart Edition was released in 2006". This is false. What you are talking of is the Complete Compact Mozart Edition. I do not know the exact year of release, but it is certainly not 2006, as on the website of Decca, it states 2000 as the year of international release for this edition. It seems that the same set got reissued in 2006, for obvious reasons. Still, date of a reprint is not the same as date of publication. 2000 seems like a better choice. The Best of the Complete Mozart Edition[edit]

"The Best of the Complete Mozart Edition was also produced in 1995. This set contains 25 compact discs and represents a condensed version of the 1990–91 or 2000 sets."

This edition is certainly NOT a "condensed" version of the original set, but a SELECTION.

In the context of this excellent and very informative article, I think that it would be a positive addition to create another list of the 25 CDs chosen for the "Best of the Complete Mozart Edition".

The question of what is the "best" of Mozart's music, or at least the best recordings in Philips's Complete Edition, is very perplexing. It would be highly instructive to know what the Philips editors themselves saw as this enigmatic "best".--ROO BOOKAROO (talk) 23:42, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
