Has anyone contacted Brick for input on his take of what happened? Brick still lives in East Meadow Long Island and is very approachable. jbutera 02:55, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

I exchanged emails with Brick about five years ago. he still maintains that the story as it is told in the movie is inaccurate. He has commented on the New York Times movie database:

It was murder, not self defense

My name is Lenny. Richie and I were best friends.My name is Brick in the movie and book. I'm writing to say that on Feb. 27th 1972, Richie was murdered by his father.It was not self defense.I have a story to tell and I would like the truth to be told to the people that sided with Richies father.
