Tiger sharks and stimulants

From the current article: "The group are attacked by tiger sharks, fed stimulants by Cloche to make them more aggressive and prone to attack..."

Are there any references verifying that those were Tiger sharks, or that "stimulants" were used (in the plot)?

I've done significant diving with sharks, including Tigers, and have studied the film and photos of various sharks and see no evidence of any Tiger sharks in the mix. They appear to be Nuse sharks, Grey Reef sharks, and Blacktip sharks, typical of Bermuda waters. One of the tangled sharks is a Nurse shark and the other appears to be a Grey Reef or a Blacktip shark.

Also, I heard no mention of "stimulants" in the film. The video shows people cutting up meat or fish of some sort and throwing it, some of it bagged, into the water, along with blood. This is a common technique for enticing sharks to feed. Is this what is meant by "stimulants"?

Note the vertical stripes,, the almost non-existant dorsel fin, and the characteristic tail fin. Also note that a "typical" adult Tiger shark is over eleven feet long. None of the sharks in the film appear to be of this size. Tiger sharks are VERY large.

None of the sharks in the film exhibit the characteristic tail of the Tiger shark.

In summary, I see no evidence that any of the sharks in "The Deep" are Tiger sharks, and I neither heard nor saw any indication that "stimulants" were being fed to the sharks to entice feeding.

I recommend that the article be changed to read: "The group is attacked by sharks, attracted and excited by bait and blood dropped into the water by Cloche's men....."

Since is not really important for the plot,, I went ahead and deleted the text of the sharks and stimulants, there is nothing to support this on the film, the attack scene is while Adam is taking care of the boat, you cannot see any food or any stimulants, and the men who work for Cloche are not around, you can only see a shark getting tangled by one of the feeding tubes and many other sharks getting real close to the divers and only the suspicious attitude of Adam, if any, I would imagine Adam being the one to blame for the attack but its just a conjecture. I also made some changes to the plot to make it more understandable, since I just watched the film, but feel free to make more changes. Ttmon (talk) 12:12, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
